Title: technological experiment
Post by: ZekeySpaceyLizard on November 23, 2007 11:47 AM
Ever since I got to animate traditionally at ye olde college, I've been wanting to do it again ever since the moment I tried flash.
However, I am not blessed with the ability to use a wacom like rtil and adam phillips do, to create something   wonderful that doesnt look like a hamster thats been beaten to death by a meat tenderizer.

Using a mouse has worked....somewhat for the last few years, but drawing this way it still nowhere near the quality I've been trying to get to (like my hand-drawn animation). Lackluster results. Drawing with a mouse is like drawing with your foot. I HATE IT.

but now, thanks to Tom giving me money (and you guys for voting), I have bought this:

It's a decent size, too. Look at this....guy...muppet....

Thats not me. I dunno who that dude is. He came up in google. The fuck is wrong with his face?

Either way, I spent days researching these, and for price, the M200 seemed the best bet.
512 mb of ram which is more than plenty.
40 gb of hard drive space, also more than plenty.
2 usb ports
sd card port
it can use usb2.0
and you draw ON the screen. like a cintiq. but not expensive.

User reviews are pretty much all positive with the majority of complaints being that its "heavy" boo hoo

So yeh
I am pretty stoked right now.

I'll let you guys know if its awesome or sucks. If it sucks, I'll sell it on ebay and get the money back. If not, fuck yes.

it gets very hot after a while but it works like a charm

once i practice getting used to it, I'm gonna do all of polypeptide's linework for the next couple of scenes in it.

hey, a bit of a question that's on and off topic.

right now I'm using a wacom graphire 3.

would getting an intuos 3 be a change? or no change at all?

yes. that's why they have different product names. an intuos has more levels of sensitivity and a cleaner and more useful interface. thats' why they're more expensive

so, it would be wise for me to get a new tablet?
Title: technological experiment
Post by: rtil on November 30, 2007 02:12 AM
i don't recommend a graphire for any animation or art , i just think it's a crappy tablet. you will be much happier with an intuos

At first I wanted to sell it. But thats not really fair since I got it for free from renegade clock and technically you as well.

I would've given it to Buggy Bug Bug bug bug bug McBug but he already got one from Tom Floop.

So I need to give it away, I just dont know to who yet.

also: http://img144.imageshack.us/my.php?image=bonkdz6.swf (http://img144.imageshack.us/my.php?image=bonkdz6.swf)

still playin with it.

jack off on the wacom and mail it back to renegade

Post by: Kostya on November 30, 2007 03:38 AM
yeah, with my graphire, I always get messed up lines and have to undo so many times. that's one of the reasons i get frusterated with it and just go do something else. (and why I haven't really finished a toon or anything yet). does it really matter the size of an intuos 3? because my tablet's 6x8 fits nicely on my desktop. im just wondering if larger is better or anything.

Post by: rtil on November 30, 2007 04:36 PM
6x8 should suit your needs just fine
the size of it will match the size of your monitor res, so the smaller you get, the less accurate your marks will be.

Send the Wacom to Wonchop. Attach a note "I'll go ahead and just assume you don't have one. I hope so at least."
