I saw this in NYC around the time I stopped posting here so I never got to share my experience.
RYOJI IKEDA : THE TRANSFINITE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=omDK2Cm2mwo#ws)
But yeah you don't have to have seen them personally. Sound/video installation is one of my favorite mediums so I have a few others I can post later.
my idea of installation art has been ruined by first year students who assume/believe that a good installation piece involves gluing a radiator to a wall or throwing some dead cats around a pedestal
if i dont understand its because its 2deep4me and i am an art plebeian
could you maybe post the others i would quite like to see them
there was this art installation on a big video screen in a public square that was showing a glitched 8 or 16 bit game.. i dunno what happened to it but i can't find the video anywhere
That does sound really familiar (I think you may have told me about it), but I can't say I've seen the video.

Sure. Here are a few of my favorites (you may have already seen some/all of these):

Best Video Installation Art at the Biennale in Santa Cruz Bolivia by SONIA FALCONE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WDRFDdhdxvI#ws)
Jaqapparatus by Chris Cunningham at Audi City (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gd9mV5gQCFk#ws)
Storm Room (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3b4ChksHJM#ws)
Max Neuhaus' Times Square (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gahUMGmKzIA#ws)
Obviously I have a pretty massive hard-on for Ikeda but everything he does is so inspiring it's hard not to. I'll post some more sound/static pieces later but those are harder to capture on video and this is probably enough clutter for now.
