i have a 30-day free trial to crunchyroll (http://www.crunchyroll.com/). crunchyroll offers simulcasts of most airing anime, and has a fairly large selection of already aired anime. i already have a subscription there, so i'm giving it away. but not without a challenge!
the question is: how many unique visitors came to thebackalleys in the month of september this year? a unique visit is a single visit from an IP. the IP cannot be counted again for another 24 hours. this is not the same as hits, which counts every visit to every page.
it would be almost impossible to guess the real number, so the closest person will win the grand prize, and the 2 next closest people will receive a 48-hour guest pass code.
i will end this contest 2 days from the creation of this thread. so get your guesses in before then. if you win something and don't want it, you can give the code away. it only expires when it is redeemed.
and they're off!

the contest is over! the answer?
in the month of september, thebackalleys.com received
34,539
unique hits - an average of 1.6 per visits per visitor.
the winner, with the closest guess of 4,501 is psi!
runner-ups:
2,315 - Haru
2,200 - basketweaver
2,000 - iinnkk
1,967 - redmongoose

I will be giving my 48-hour passes to Haru and basketweaver. the next 4 closest can get your pass from bp7 and cipher, who also won his own guest pass, which i suppose would be passed on to stu.

naruto is their most popular show. they probably make a lot of subscriber money from people who just watch the big 3
Yeah I just thought it sounded hilarious. Advertising the 334th episode of anything and making it sound so ridiculous is just a funny way to draw in new customers. I'm probably not the target demographic though.
jeez, that's a lot. I knew for a fact that the number would be at least 4,000, judging by how many people come here every day, but I couldn't have guessed 35k.
Thanks for the trial! I'll put it to good use.
edit: Actually, I just gave the invite to Haru (who was 2nd place). I'm not too keen on entering paypal or credit card information.
