A pointless title to grab and throw away the attention of the masses because nobody wants to see that. So I'm here to yeah, drop my shazam around and watch it boil in the sun that is this pizza alley. I expect large buckets of hate on my work and it is heartwarming.
You'll never get a pizza out of me. Also I do requests, whatever you want, because I'm bored. No cockpillows.

Maybe one. Discreetly.
Not bad! The proportions might need a little work but you seem to have a good understanding of anatomy.
Heeey yeah thanks a lot! Yeah, well, it did look better in the sketch... As do all my drawings. Still got a lot to learn though!
i request that you draw more (ladies)
Wooh! Honestly had no plans to draw anything else! How about moar Tealeaf? Or maybe Glow... Hmm... Or just more Artemis. OH! No.. no.... hmmm..... Piper was always my favourite of your OCs, can I draw her? She's adorable.
of course! :D
Okay, I'm totally up for WIPs because I like to monitor my progress and get feedback. And after hours of procrastination I've decided to WIP it out. Please give me criticism and other chaloir feedback because frankly, I'm a noob at this. Ignore the "clouds" though that was just because I had no background and well, I like to have backgrounds that aren't empty voids of despondency. Also the proportions I don't are actually out, haha, such as her lower body, her upper body is supposed to be closer to the... uh.. the you. than the lower half whevs. Enough rambling from me, BAM!

I think I'm pretty happy with it how it is. So I'll just dump that and move on to my next piece! HMMMM. Actually tho, tips on what I could do to fix everything up would be greatly appreciated!

An animation WIP. I'm aware it's pony but I'm getting payed for this so meh. It's still kinda weird, screwed the proportions halfway through but it'll be fine in the end. (It's also my technical first animation ever so wooh!)

pic looks different from every angle, this guy is a genius
for the animation, are you working straight ahead? i think it would be better to get the key drawings down first (the resolution of every action or movement), and then inbetween from there. you shouldn't have to draw every single frame, too. the way you're doing it right now is causing what is called boil, where the lines jump too much from each frame, giving this effect that the lines are moving like boiling water.
TOP NOTCH ON THE TOPHAT AND STACHE! I think you completed my piece for me. And yeah, I drew three separate frames to get the boil effect but there was too much of a ridiculous deviation. Haha, I don't know. I just can't get passed a still frame, it looks weird. And I just thought I'd drop off some of my older deviations because I'm pretty proud of them.
This is Nali, she was my first OC. ^^ And she's naked. Actually she doesn't even wear clothes. Whavs.

And this is a random concept design I worked on for some game I'm making. Not sure if I'll use it anymore though. It looked better back then when I painted it.

i like the hair colors on nali, and it compliments her eyes well. also, just to be safe, please either mark this topic NSFW by editing the OP or use the [ nsfw ] tag instead of [ img ] tag on individual images that are nsfw. thanks :)
Oooh that NSFW tag. I like it! Sorry. I'm still new here, hey. :) Well, it seems I'm on an uploading streak so here's something I just did.
ANOTHER OC of mine that goes by the name of... DUN DUN DUUUUN!! Silent Oscillus.

no problem. i haven't really documented it yet, and it's not in the post bbcode, which i still need to overhaul.
My thread is dead. I think because people do not want to talk to me. WAHA! Ain't gon stop me.
Here's a frame in progress for a basic animation I'm working on.

wheres the rest of the animation
My thread has been dead for months because I are fail and never draw enough
this thread should have been aborted shortly after conception because omfg it is horrible
Oh the animation has only been conceptialized at this point and I actually have enough time to start it now. And I'm sure your art is great Haru. And thanks Sinitron! I love criticism, especially when that's all it is, I'll do something that you'll like some day maybe.
i sincerely doubt it
it's not because you really lack the technical expertise (though the tube-titties on that anime slut don't sit right with me)
it's just because you're so fucking uninspired and dull
AND you draw ponies
look at that soup guy, he's a good example
i like SOME of his things
he's not quite so limited in his expressions thus far
but despite my concerns that he might be doing a little too much surreal work, it shows that he can create without any prior notions of what something has to be
and that's something i like
Oh thank you for that. That's very fair. But it's not because I'm uninspired, but I do see the dull. Nearly every piece of work I do is simply study, specifically body proportion, it's been bothering me for months. Once I can do it without it taking too much thought then I can actually start drawing things that are on my mind. I usually end up abandoning pieces just because they end up looking so wrong, then I move to study of anatomy, most times. And I've moved from ponies, they were some pretty old pieces, but most of the pony crap was just because they're easier to draw than humans, and it allows me to get to colour sooner, so more practice. Thanks though.
whoa
sinitron wants to fuck
for all of sinitron's rude words he gives really solid criticism. the cruellest thing you can do to an artist is tell them their work is flawless when it isn't. so for that he is kinda good. although he also has some high standards.
if by 'high standards' you mean 'only likes a certain type of art and all other art is bad', then yes. it's a narrow-minded worldview, and it's dangerous to subscribe to. sure he can give good criticism sometimes but i wouldn't take all of it to heart. don't try and please people who tell you that your art is trash because it's not what they like. you can't please everyone, and you shouldn't try to. if you are not making art for yourself, then you're doing it for the wrong reasons. you should draw what makes you happy. yes, it's important to learn from others and take criticism. but at the end of the day your art is your identity - there's no reason to be ashamed of it because it pisses some random person off. in fact, i always found reactions of anger quite flattering because i managed to elicit an emotion from them with my art. that's a powerful tool to have at your disposal.
anyways, i'm getting off topic. i'm sure you (vanefox) know that you have a lot to improve on. but you have some basic mechanics down. i usually don't give in-depth criticism unless it is asked for, because a lot of people are very sensitive and defensive about their work. even i can be sometimes, it's natural. this is why i sometimes just point out the good and don't critique. but the offer's on the table. i won't try to change you as an artist because you don't draw in a particular style. i would only help you refine your own.

I agree that you shouldn't get too worked up about it, but I'm fairly sure you won't take Sinitron too seriously anyway...
Nonetheless, it can never be wrong to take these occasions as an inspiration to try something different as it will definitely broaden your horizons. That doesn't only art, but a lot of other things as well. As soon as you completely disregard people with different tastes and justify your decision by declaring them narrow minded and by considering their criticism irrelevant in regards to your style, you will hardly develop and your works will lack diversity.
It might be true that every artist has his own style, but style is merely the product of different experiences and influences. Extending that area of experience and influence will only add to the quality of your works.
...that is, unless it is mlp r34 fanfappery... and that's today's bottom line, kids!
Now, Sinitron, go out there, draw some animu girls doing cute things and make us all proud!
i don't take sinitron seriously. i'm telling other people not to take him seriously either.
i don't disregard people who have different tastes than me. i enjoy a wide variety of art, and i can appreciate all kinds of art. why? because i know i have no right to say what is and isn't art. i'm not going to pretend i have superior tastes than anyone, or that my art is good. all i can do is try to learn something new every time i paint and animate something. and that is all that really matters.
the way you approach it with your attitude is important. if someone tells you "don't draw this, because i don't like it and it sucks", that's not a positive message for an artist to hear, even if the person saying it is being sarcastic.
i think it's an especially egregious mistake to criticize someone for drawing in an "anime" style, and calling it generic. as if all anime looks the same. it's about as valid and appropriate as someone saying all people of a certain race look the same. in the artistic realm of what fits the description of an anime style is as widely varied as art in the western world - and if that isn't apparent then you just aren't paying attention or are being willfully ignorant.
i'm not going to lie - i watch a lot of anime, and i prefer the anime style aesthetically over anything else. that's not to say i like everything just because it's anime, or that i don't like anything just because it isn't anime. regardless, my point is that even though i feel this way, i do not speak down to people for not drawing in a way that i would prefer, nor do i consider them misguided for doing so. so when i see people doing that, i can't take them seriously. there is no reason to disrespect people or treat them as inferior for drawing from their inspirations. we are all different in that respect and that's what gives everyone's art a unique personality.
Oye, I guess I was a lil ambiguous... but actually I was mainly talking to Vane. You know Sinitron well enough to do without my advice.
However, even if he is a bigoted cunt at times, the fact that he still manages to make people try something new is definitely nothing that deprives them of their skill and kind of fascinating in its own way.
I don't really think that the term anime style can be grasped as a concept as it is merely a simplification of an image of reality which may or may not emphasize certain features (in this particular case the eyes). And as you said... there are a shitload of different styles employed in anime.
Therefore, yes, it is not the most helpful way to criticize something for being too 'anime', as it is simply too hard to define the set of anime features in a particular piece with this simple word. It does, however, inspire the artist to think about what might be the reason for this statement and can bear interesting results.
Ye, this is bullshit... declaring something 'too anime' is mainly being a dick... but he might have an interesting time trying to please Sinitron and develop a bit. Even though it's gonna be a fucking Sisyphean task for someone with his handicap (bronies etc)...
wow suddenly this thread got like 20,000 leagues deep
vanefox go outside and draw trees and rocks and people you meet on the bus i swear it helps
yeah i didn't mean to derail it i just wanted to make a point. if people want to continue this discussion further make a new thread. otherwise from this point on i will delete posts that are off-topic (aka not about vanefox's art)

Waaaaah! So much information at once! But thank you all for your input! Sinitron didn't offend me though, I'm actually pleased that he was so brutally and painfully honest. I mean yeah I've looked back and I become less and less proud of my previous pieces but hey, I'm pretty sure I improve with every piece I do and I'm gonna keep trying!
INSPIRATIONAL!
