Title: Hey. I started a new webcomic.
Post by: topcatyo on July 11, 2012 05:33 AM
Hello everybody, you might remember me, or not, doesn't matter.  How's it going?

If you don't remember me I'll just say I posted a shitty webcomic a couple years ago.  I was scrutinized pretty harshly, but I will admit I deserved pretty much all of it. I quit it a while ago so I can look back on it more objectively and with some experience.

Anyways I'm risking it again and doing a new webcomic.

http://waterloggedcomic.com/1 (http://waterloggedcomic.com/1)

It's a collaborative project between me and a friend who have done quite a few collaborations before.  Waterlogged is about two pirates named Amos and Manny who work the worst jobs on a pirate ship, but have bigger plans.  Brandon and I both enjoy drawing as well as scripting the story so we do both.  Every page we switch off to draw it, which is convenient because we're both busy dudes.  It's different than most webcomics do but we're hoping you'll find it to be enjoyable.

Anyways yeah, scrutinize, I can handle it.  Lord knows I could use some constructive criticism.  However, I do ask that you read all the was up to the latest page before you post any comments.  We're 34 pages in, which is including 2 chapter covers, and I would like to think we've both improved considerably since we first started the comic (plus we're both pretty enthusiastic about chapter 2).

Otherwise, personally life, I am in college at the moment at University of the Arts.  I'm going to be a senior, and I turned 21 a couple weeks ago

So yeah, read away.  As for those other collaborative projects I mentioned, we have 2 flash movies we've done on Newgrounds, if you don't like the first one I ask that you watch the second because whereas we did the second one over the course of 3 months, we did the first one in an hour.  These are Clock movies (remember the Clock Crew?), which I am now an administrator of somehow.

One final note, I also make music in my free time now.  I've been commissioned by some friends and family for songs too, as well as have done some work for Flash cartoons.  I just like having fun making music so if you want to make a movie for your Flash I will do it without expecting any charge (unless it's a professional project or something  you're otherwise spending money on, because then... like, come on).

The music gets worse the further you go back into the archive, but if you wanna give some constructive criticism on that too, be my guest, lord knows I could use it.

i feel like i have seen waterlogged before...not sure where or how, maybe you have linked it before other places. the art is charming, i can't read it all right now because i have a lot to do tonight to prepare for my trip tomorrow. but when i get back i'll read through the whole thing. i can kinda see where it's going and the humor is pretty light but like i said the art is nice.

as far as the cc stuff.. i'm somehow amazed and also not surprised that the clock crew still exists, being a spinoff of a site that has been slowly dying and fading into irrelevancy over the past few years. never really liked clock crew flash movies.. can't say these are an exception either. the humor just flies right over my head.

the music sounds great to me. i'm no musician but they sound clean and simple, and i like them. i listened to most on the first page, and reverse the flash credits song was my favorite.

Thanks a bunch for checking all the stuff!  I appreciate the comments.  The Clock Crew has hit on some hard times but nowadays it's sort of a group of friends now who are all busy with real life.  It's fun though and I enjoy it.

Have a good time at Comic-Con, as I mentioned in the chat, that sounds like it's going to be an enjoyable trip.

i really enjoyed the comic thus far! i really like the personality of the captain. he's like a mister rogers to his crew.

and manny is adorable with his poop bucket half full personailty!

[spoiler]i also like how on the performance review, it showed that manny actually shwarshed some buckles. maybe we'll be seeing these buckelings in flash backs?[/spoilers]

Oh wow nostalgia. The comic is much better than the Clock movies... The beginning of the second clock movie made it look quite promising but it sort of decreased in quality as it went along... getting messed up in the cloning machine was kind of funny I guess. I remember following you on sheezyart, you had that animated gif of a twirling cat as your avatar haha. Good to see people still knocking about somewhere.

Thanks guys, glad you enjoy the comic.

As for the clock movies, I understand their lack of appeal.  I had a lot of fun making them though, so I have no regrets :)
