haven't been any topics in a while and i'm hungry so this is what i came up with.

what's your favorite ethnic food? for me it's thai food. i love a lot of the ways they prepare curry, the spice of the dishes, the use of peanut, egg, noodles and the different kinds of sauces as well. i also think the dishes are very pretty , and a lot of thai restaurants have a nice atmosphere, too. the food also smells amazing.

sorry if i missed any, i know i did but i tried to list the most popular, at least in the united states.

For me, it's a tie between Mexican and Japanese food. I love meat, and these pack a wallop of good ol' hearthy meat meat meat

I dunno... I'd have a hard time deciding between Italian, Chinese and many dishes that I consider German but which are probably common meals everywhere and originate from completely different countries. Greece food is pretty nice as well. My parents simply love Greek restaurants, tough, which is why it doesn't really appear as special to me as other types of food. Indian and Thai stuff is pretty nice too and I don't even want to exclude the others... This is quite a touh one, but I would probably go with Chinese as well as it's still one of the more exquisite choices...

Isn't France pretty popular for its cuisine, though? I think that one belongs in the list, although I probably couldn't even list more that 3 typically French dishes...

Oh, and on a side note... what you/we guys might consider Chinese is actually the westernized variety. If you ever visit a traditional Chinese restaurant, the menu will look quite different....

i was actually gonna mention i've been to a traditional chinese restaurant in vancouver bc (there is a huge chinese population there), i'm not gonna lie i had a hard time eating a lot of the food there. what they consider dessert is .. well, i dont know what it is but it was barely food

i love it all but i've never tried vietnamese, latin or korean. it all depends on mood but i have to say if any means more to me it's definitely indian. i loooooove indian food

Italian food and i don't mean generic affair you get in most restaurants outside of Italy.

The way they do sauces, vegetables and fish dishes in particular is so damn lovely and while you do have to watch the fat levels somewhat the food is otherwise not too bad for you. Another factor is that when you go to Italy there is quite a bit of variation from region to region.

A personal example id give of this would be when i was last in Umbria a good few years ago there was this small hillside village near where my aunt used to live and they did a LOVELY selection of boar and bread based dishes. On the other hand while when i was in a lovely part of Campania last year called Castellabate they had an enormous emphasis on fish (particularly catches of the day) dishes.

The other most important one for me though is that the food isn't all that hard to do and doesn't have that many ingredients. So if you have some good quality ingredients it's a very delicious and simply rewarding type of food to cook for home.

Oh and they have Panna Cotta which is a vanilla jelly dessert that i have an almost crack like addiction too :P

the food in italy was amazing when i was there. everything was fresh so no matter how much you ate you never felt like shit after a big meal.

this. I had traditional chinese food, too, as well as traditional indian, german obviously and traditional vietnamese (<-that shit is hot as fuck).

I don't know which to pick, but I think i'd go with Japanese. I like pretty much all of their rice specialities as well as their soya sauce heavy food with ginger. I'm probably just saying that because Japanese food is rather expensive here and not something you eat every day. If i ate that stuff every day, i wouldn't pick it i assume.

So for food I can always eat, on a daily basis, i would probably pick westernized chinese or vietnamese.


oh yeah; I recently ate north korean ramen, it tastes like shit. It literally tastes like there is sand in there.

Turk food and italian food, recently there's been a lot of turk food restaurants popping up around the city for some reason, but I like kebab so I ain't complaining

I can't really eat any Thai food since they put curry in everything and I'm allergic to it :/ (Not deadly but my tongue puffs and I'm sitting in pain for a few hours till the swelling goes down). My fav would be a tie between Italian and Mexican food.

I once witnessed Swedish cuisine in all its glory. Part of it consisted of splasining an egg on the floor of my kitchen but at least those people do have a couple of somewhat popular products, brands and dishes whereas Norway doesn't seem to be popular for anything food-wise... whenever you guys try to cook, you accidentally burn down churches and the only thing that I associate withe your country are these horrible sweaters and jackets with your national flag on them so I can see why you are jealous of our glorious sauerkraut but that doesn't give you any reason to insult the Danes!

I love me some Central European food. Schnitzels, goulash, thick soups, all so delicious.

Coming in for a tie in second is Portuguese and Thai food, I like them equality. So many Thai people come live in Australia so its really easy to find authentic stuff. We also have a couple of fast food chains that are Portuguese such as Nandos and Oportos.

I think the worst is South Asian cuisine, Indians and such. All the stuff is so bland and smothered in sauce, all you taste is spice. I love my spicy foods, but when all you can taste is hot then there is something wrong with the dish.

I thought so too so I tried an even better rated Indian restaurant and its the same shit. I can't even complain that its the Americanised abomination like the so called 'Mexican' food as the people who run the store are straight from Stinksville, New Delhi.

i generally don't like indian food either, and there is a huge indian population here because of microsoft and amazon so there's lots of authentic indian cuisine. sure they make some decent curry but they're not the only culture that uses curry in their dishes and i'd rather get a thai or japanese curry dish. also, and no offense to them, but their food leaves a terrible smell around.

Sometimes I'm not sure whether its the food or the people who stink. I lost an Indian friend that way, I told him that he stinks all the time and should start using deodorant. He was offended and started hating me, but my other friends were joyous.

Generally speaking, Indians don't bath as often as Westerners do. This what I heard from a co-worker. I also had two Indian co-workers who had a certain... musk, to say the least.
