anyone else see this? i'm assuming if you did you have seen the original swedish adaptation. i liked both films, and i thought both were very similar , however i was startled by
the ending of finchers, and i thought it was a little more real to the message of the story, and also very depressing.
i also thought the opening credits of fincher's adaptation were a little out of place. felt like some kind of bond/mission impossible/action thriller opening with cgi that went on too long. but other than that i enjoyed it, despite the pacing of the whole investigation part kind of dragging until a very condensed reveal when
salander figures out who the murderer is
. also i was surprised
how much more brutal the rape/revenge scenes were. i would have thought that fincher would tone it down but it's even more violent than the swedish film, which was already more violent than the book.
but if you liked the swedish film, i think this one is worth watching as well. it has not been "hollywoodized" , and i think fincher does the material well.
I thought it was amazing, I completely agree about the opening titles though. I knew nothing going into this movie except for that it was david fincher, and the opening scene and titles really left me kind of dazed and confused. afterwards it was awesome though, I had to pay close attention to enjoy it but that's to be expected with any serious kind of drama, especially based on a book like the girl with the dragon tattoo.
Also, I thought that everything that trent reznor did was incredible, him and david fincher really are an amazing combo. I haven't seen many movies this year but out of the ones that I have seen this definitely takes the cake. I hope it wins some awards at the oscars because the golden globes didn't give it very much love. Rooney Mara deserves to win best leading actress at least.
went to go see it with a bunch of friends and only about half of them (including me) enjoyed it. i hadnt read the book and i hadnt seen the original, all i knew was the trailer was awesome and DAVID FINCHER TRENT REZNOR DANIEL CRAIG WOO YEAHHHH but i thought it was pretty compelling, and really entertaining to watch, and i was actually kind of shocked to find the sex outweigh the violence.
billy: best part was non-rape sex scenes i got a boner
billy: worst part was dead cat
haha, I say this with the person above me, it was good i liked it
mm yea interesting note about the cat, it was in the book but not in the swedish film i am glad fincher added it. i also forgot to mention i thought the
reveal of hillary's whereabouts happened too quickly and was too sudden, it's a little more shocking in the swedish one. but i thought the last 20 minutes were better as an overall conclusion to the story
Its not a movie for someone with delicate sensibilities but, I recommend it to anyone who's curious, read the book, or seen the swedish version
personally i wouldnt see it with friends that would be awkward. i saw it with my wife but we already knew what we were getting into and had seen the swedish one
not only did I see it with BluPhoenix (and friends) I saw it sitting next to his DAD
which really wasnt a problem
i saw it on christmas night with my family and it wasn't too awkward
how are rape scenes not awkward for a family
It's only awkward if SOMEONE decides to point out the awkwardness of it
i guess i have a very different kind of family then
I'm gonna watch it Fincher's version on Netflix, probably tonight. I know what you mean about watching it with certain people, my girlfriend won't watch it with me, mainly because she doesn't like the subject of rape in anything. SO I'll let you all know what I think about it tonight.
i'm gonna watch it probably
free
well it was uncomfortable for me but everybody was just watching the movie
I saw it the other day. I enjoyed it. I couldn't watch that rape scene though.
The audience cheered when she got her revenge.
Also dat opening. People coming in during it looked really confused, like they walked into the wrong movie.

i was smiling, i mean the guy deserved it. ive read some comments of people saying they felt bad for him, but i could never feel any sympathy for his character because of what he did.

i watched the swedish version yesterday, i might watch the fincher one later
Hardcore movie. Great story and characters, the minute I saw that guardian I knew he was piece of shit. May watch the american version now.
