ron paul is a br0
lmfao fucking true though. most people i meet don't know who ron paul is, and if they do they're like "oh...ron paul....i heard he's nuts or something"
and if they don't fit into the above categories they're usually big fans or supporters in some way
he is easily my fav republican candidate
the daily shows been pretty great as of late
same story in 2008, msm doesn't want him to be elected. doesn't matter what happens though, no republican candidate is strong enough to beat obama. he will be re-elected, unless if i am overestimating the intelligence of an average american, which is highly likely. if that's the case then we can kiss what's left of this country goodbye
it's funny because ron paul is pretty much the best candidate, and tons of people know it, but no one wants to vote for him. even big supporters say that they're going to vote for "the lesser of the two evils".
it's miserable having to watch the good candidate get censored and demonized
I'll vote for him, fuckit
top tier what the fuck is this super smash bros bullshit
Ron Paul may be conservative as shit and doesn't come close to aligning with my personal views, but he makes a hell of a better candidate than any of those other asshats running for the Republican nomination. It's pretty clear he's the only one who believes what he's saying and not trying to cash in on the soft-headed Tea Party.
Also, Obama pretty much has re-election clenched regardless of how he's doing or will be doing. The Republican nomination will most likely go to the farthest right-leaning, Tea Party fellating candidate. They'll make sure to alienate most of their original base and send all potential Republican voting Independents running to Obama. Like, if they chose Mitt Romney (which they won't) they might actually stand a chance, but buhhhh they aren't. He's not too great either, but he sucks substantially less than the others. Also, historically speaking, Obama will most likely get reelected by a narrow margin just like Clinton did and yadda yadda.
i can't tell who the republicans will pick at this point. romney and perry are eating eachother alive, bachmann is too stupid, and the others are all longshots. and we still don't know if christie or palin are going to throw their hats in the ring yet although time is running out for both of them.

this is what i see happening tbh
it actually comforts me that the media is this scared of him
i feel like he could actually get elected without them, as naive as that sounds

This folks, is why I barely even pay attention to political news anymore. While I'll always vote and make sure I'm informed before voting, it seems pointless for me to pay a lot of attention to political news nowadays since it all seems so hopeless. Voters are too goddamn ignorant and rely on the goddamn media way too much for their news. That clip near the end truly shows how CNN is such a shitty news network. Despite being a really hardcore liberal, I am thinking about temporarily changing my party to the Republican party just so I could vote for Ron Paul in the primaries. He's the only politician running in the Republican primaries that I don't feel is full of shit plus he has a lot of great ideas in the social aspect of government. At the same time, I don't want him as our president because I feel he's too economically conservative. I definitely want him to have much more power in the Republican party though.

First of all, that was recorded a month before he was elected. Both McCain and Obama made separate, humorous speeches. While Obama's speech was funny for the most part, McCain's was a lot funnier and more memorable. It's been a tradition for decades for presidential candidates to attend that dinner and Obama was clearly making fun of retarded birthers.

but he was also very naive as he had no idea how hard his job would be. you don't see him joke around or smile much anymore. the republicans have made his first term a living hell. that was basically their goal, and they definitely accomplished it.

lots of these candidates would be better late night talk show hosts than presidents, and i mean that.
i had a "debate" today with a manager and supervisor at work today about ron paul and other various political topics.
i call it a "debate" because it was more like my supervisor and i tried to have a conversation and my manager just kept talking over everyone and stating his uninformed and arrogant opinions. loudly. he claimed that ron paul was one of the dumbest people he'd ever seen, he was "booed by his own constituents", and was exposed as a liar numerous times, and that he was involved in many sketchy and embarrassing scandals. he of course didn't say what they were, but he assured me that they were appalling.
(i don't take my manager's opinions on anything very seriously, though. as you might be able to guess, his trademark arrogance and ignorance combination, combined with his loud mouth lead him to have many views that are not only extreme, but also extremely illogical. he doesn't believe in evolution, he thinks that everything that darwin ever wrote was proved to be false and unscientific, and that the earth is only a few thousand years old, and that that is supported by all of the current scientific evidence available. he also believes that evidence suggests that humans are devolving, and that humans were inventing better things at a more rapid rate a thousand years ago (this is so unbelievably obviously false that i really wonder how anyone could possibly believe it. we might have invented a lot of useful things, but the rate at which new things were invented has only risen over time). so yeah, his opinion doesn't matter much)
my supervisor and i talked later when my manager was gone, and he basically said "yeah, the only people i know of who like ron paul are hipsters. and well, that's you, man."
oh well.
sounds like he'd make a great fox news pundit
yeah i was thinking something like that as i was recalling the shit he was saying. he definitely does sound like someone who is watching fox news and believing everything they say.

Ron Paul Catching Newt Gingrich in Iowa (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQRmML09Ybo#ws)
Even some really hardcore liberals are thinking about voting for Ron Paul. Honestly, if the election turned into Ron Paul vs. Obama, I have no fucking idea who I would vote for. Obama has been a mediocre at best president (very generous statement) and he certainly wouldn't get much better in a second term. Ron Paul terrifies me on a lot of economic issues but god... If that internet censorship bill passes and Obama signs it, there would be a much larger chance of me voting for Ron Paul in the general election.
the problem is that the entire presidential title is given to people who in effect are puppets
it's utterly irrelevant who wins as long as the senate is thoroughly corrupt
obama or ron paul might be decent individuals, but neither would command supreme power
you might as well put mussolini and the fascists in power, the difference would be minimal
musso would fuck criminals up at least
what can HObama and ron fraud do? NOTHING
Quote from: Sinitron on December 15, 2011 07:25 PM

that's a pretty bold statement for someone who doesn't live in the united states.
yes, some of our civil liberties are being challenged lately, but we hardly live in anything close to a fascist state.
even if the senate and house were
completely corrupt, they still don't trump executive orders and the president's veto power. the senate and the house is also at the mercy of the voters every 2-4 years.
there definitely needs to be a lot of reform to fix our congress. we need term limits, campaign finance reform, make party registration optional and get lobbyists out of the business of influencing law and politicians. but ultimately, congressmen and women still have to serve their constituents - their comfy jobs depend on it. voters just need to be more educated and pay attention to the facts. they need to stop voting back in 80% of congress every election cycle if they really want change. and they need to make their voices heard - which actually has been influencing a lot of house bills lately, and for the better.
in a fascist state, the people wouldn't have a voice. but we still have the right to organize, demonstrate, speak and protest, and we still have the power to completely wipe the slate of the house, the senate and the oval office as voters.
Here's part of the problem. In my district, Lois Capps never has any real competition from Democrats at all and the Republicans who go against her are even worse than her. Not to mention her seat is beyond safe. Scenarios like this are everywhere. What the hell can I really do about it?
Edit-
She voted for the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012 bill. ._.
what a surprise
Ron Paul placed 2nd in New Hampshire beating Gingrich. He's actually got a chance at this. It's a bit of a longshot but it's possible.
http://americanresearchgroup.com/ (http://americanresearchgroup.com/)
the NH primary isn't until january. that was an opinion poll sampled from likely voters
So Paul is placing 2nd in polls for both Iowa and New Hampshire? That's good news.
i need to register republican so i can vote for paul in the CA primary. but i am too lazy to go to the DMV and i don't actually know any other way to change what i'm registered as
i can't believe a lot of states still require you to register with a party. in washington you can vote for whoever the hell you want, no party registration required
yeah taylor you might want to just check your state's stance on changing your party affiliation. I believe in ohio you can simply show up to the polling station and declare that you're voting as a republican/dem/etc. and they'll change it there as necessary
really? hmm
i had heard from someone that in order to vote in the primary you had to change your party affiliation within 6 months of voting. maybe the guy's just an idiot though. i did see his comment on a youtube video.
it just depends on if your state has open or closed primaries. but 6 months ahead of time seems ridiculous though, I would imagine two weeks in advance would be the norm

California has it set up like this. If you don't have a party affiliation, are independent, or if you're a Democrat, you can vote in the Democratic primaries. However, you must be registered as a Republican to vote in the Republican primaries. I'm also going to be a Blue Republican (http://www.bluerepublican.org/) just to vote for Ron Paul despite being a hardcore liberal. You can change your party affiliation by re-registering to vote.

But don't you find it weird that they're literally fine with every other candidate winning Iowa EXCEPT Paul? Like what's the deal there?
fox news has been snubbing ron paul for years so no
why do they hate him? i've heard numerous stories about them getting money from companies and organizations that would go away if he were elected but i don't know anything about it for sure
fox news hates ron paul because he's anti-establishment and refuses to be their puppet.
every republican besides ron paul represents the status quo. they are pro-war, anti-iran, pro-corporation, pro-rich, pro-lobbyist, pro-banks, pro-federal reserve and campaign on the false premise of lowering spending and small government when in reality they are corporatist power grabbing oligarchists who will do anything the rich tell them to do. they will take money from anyone, and money is more important to them than their constituents' interests.
in order to understand this you must first accept the premise that fox news is not a news channel at all - i'm sure this is something all of you already acknowledge. they are the most watched "news" channel in the united states. everyone on fox news is not a journalist, they're a pundit, and they are preaching a worldview and pushing an agenda. they will spin anything and everything they can get their hands on, and do their best to shift public opinion instead of inform.
the station is owned and ran by newscorp and serves the direct interest of rupert murdoch and his corrupt family (like james murdoch and the phone hacking scandal at news of the world in the UK). most of the wealthy, their bankers, brokers and lenders, would like things to stay the way they are. they hire lobbyists to serve and protect their interests in congress and politics. all the fox news darlings are candidates that fall in line with the things that fox news likes. sometimes they even get their own shows after failed presidential bids (mike huckabee).
sure, the candidates fox news likes have some degree of free will - they clearly believe what they say to some extent. but they are also being paid and promised things to say the things that they do.
ron paul doesn't do that. he also doesn't have any dirt on him. he's had a consistent record in congress for decades. he truly believes what he says because he believes it, and no one has ever paid him to do so. he will do his best to destroy the status quo that its precious wing of newscorp fox news and its pundits have enjoyed for the last decade, and he's not afraid to say it.
so they attack him for the only thing they can - not being what fox news wants him to be. and unfortunately for them he has outwitted their propaganda at every chance he's been given (which is why they try to give him as little air time as possible). and now they're resorting to scare tactics like suggesting iran will start lobbing nukes all over the planet if RP is elected because he is not for starting a war on iran (it's disturbing when you notice how badly fox news wants us to go to war with iran).
they are desperate to destroy him, and they have an army of viewers that believe just about anything they say. but ron paul is a great speaker and just makes a lot of sense - something that people don't hear very often and i think more people are waking up to that fact instead of just writing him off as a lunatic like they did in 2008.
the only thing ron paul has that the GOP status quo likes is that he really could care less about regulations on the market and that would allow corporations to run rampant. but he would never call himself pro-corporate or pro-rich, his way of thinking is more like every man for himself.
i knew they at least had a christian agenda, i didn't really know the details on all the other stuff
regardless i've always hated fox news

Ron Paul Hate From Establishment Republicans (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iGPDTkeYjFs#ws)
The Republican party establishment is extremely terrified of Ron Paul. Some of these quotes from the video are absolutely hilarious.
"People are going to look at who comes in second and who comes in third. If Romney comes in a strong second, it definitely helps him going into New Hampshire and the other states." -Terry Branstad, Governor of Iowa
Busted:Fox News CPAC Ron Paul Video Deception (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lwo0Iyrh1Zk#)
so ron paul has been leading in the Iowa caucus for the past couple of weeks and CNN and fox news have now resorted to blathering on about what mitt romney and newt gingrich must do to get their numbers back up
which is the equivalent to an announcer at a football game discussing what trials the waterboy is going to face during the season handing out towels to all those players while a quarterback is busy breaking records on the field
I want to know more about Ron, but I haven't yet to see or read any sources on his stances. So I'm looking for unbiased (or as unbiased they can get) data about him.

Pretty much, but not paying attention to what was in his newsletter was a stupid move. Some people feel he wrote them, some feel he didn't write them, and some do not know what to think of them. Regardless of what anyone thinks on the matter, he made a lot of money off of them and some of it was essentially racist propaganda. With the way our media works, that is not something any politician wants on their political record. I found it funny when it became a hot topic again because I originally thought the issue was resolved in the last election, but he's a frontrunner now so let's find any dirt we can I guess.

Hmm... Well, I just hope that was a technical error and not purposeful censorship. :/ While I'm disappointed Ron Paul didn't get first, Paul, Romney, and especially Santorum did very well tonight. Rick Santorum's victory was a major shocker. Also, rofl @ this tweet (http://twitter.com/#!/RonPaul/status/154383017786351616) from Ron Paul's campaign.
rick santorum is a fucking joke, as corrupt as they come and is one of those neocons that is proud to proclaim he's ready to inject all of his religious beliefs into government the second he steps into office
but i guess it's no surprise that voters who are dumb enough to vote for a corporate shill like mitt romney are just as eager to vote for rick santorum
still, paul with >21% of the iowa vote is huge for him. afaic, it's between paul, romney and santorum now.

The Iowa caucus thrusted Santorum into a pleasurable position, though in the end, Santorum was number two. A wave of Santorum surged all over the media, and Santorum left his mark on everything in sight. However, it appeared that this was Romney's caucus, and now Romney will be able to pound Rick vigorously in New Hampshire, leaving a mess of Santorum all over the state.
i just want to break my streak of self-aware indifference to say that the whole faux-average joe persona is extremely obnoxious. especially when it sounds forcefully choked out and rehearsed. it's like he's trying to blend in with our kind, it's almost scary*
*not really
whose? mitt romney's? or all of them?
santorum and romney, though i guess they all sort of shrug and throw a football to please the crowd at some point
