regarding the first drum, its basic n nice and i think you should add more kicks to it to make it sound less repititive. also maybe add an open hi hat somehwere in there too that would be cool

derp (http://www.drumsamples.org/) you didn't see anything..

Its best to get to know a bit about compression and EQ. Together they can give one beat sample a wide variety of unique sound options

Pretty nice drum beats so far, I agree with Shadow. Fl9 is my favorite version of Fl, considering i haven't tryed out 10. keep up the good work though.

the drums in the 3rd song was barely hearable, the sample was mad chopppy

the 2nd song was aight but didnt overdo it with those snare rolls at the end of your patterns, maybe once every 8 or 16 bars?

the first song is your best song, i think you understoof what you did in this maybe work more on this song do some variations or whatver wit the sample

also 1 more thing, i know its cool and nice to sample a song that already has a sample in it. but honestly if youre starting it, try and find some of that original music, maybe you should dig deep a bit because honestly sampling stuff from artists is not reall a challenge since they already cut the best part of a song and all ull do is just sample. find some blogs where they showcase different type of music and downoad some albums and just check some out and find a part in whatever song and cut it out and make somethin out of it

also shadowfox, fl8 allday man

this beat was a bitch to make and i dont know how the drums got so fucked up. I'm thinking about redoing it cause i thought the horn editing turned out nice. Also, i dont know why its so choppy.

i know man, i was just testing fruity slicer out for the first time by using random songs on my ipod. Next time, ill sample some original music and i got the best source for it.

Yesssssssssssss
The first part of it gets me everytime, it's like some anthem

You should really start looking for sounds outside of FL asap
The stock ones are okay and all, and are good for some things, it doesn't fit all things
Plus people will pick up on the same sounds you use overtime and it all will sound the same
I still use some stock stuff and filter a bunch of them, but the bigger your library the better

and i am not a fan of looping samples to make music. Thats just my opinion. you compressing the drum samples yet?
Title: started using fl studio 10
Post by: rtil on August 17, 2011 07:12 PM
i'm really no expert when it comes to stuff like this, but if i had one suggestion for that loop (which is awesome btw), i'd do something about how crisp the sounds of the drums and cymbals are. in comparison to the sampled part, which has a bit of an "AM radio" sound to it if you know what i mean, the drum beats clash too much with it.

if i'm not mistaken, the "fruity filter" effect preset is what you would want for recreating that sound , maybe even possible with the equalizer.

First off Joey, I think the last two things you posted are amazing.
They are hitting the spot right now for me 'cause of some stuff I'm currently undergoing
The Mehdi one I think fits perfectly with Gucci Time.gif

I like the second jam just the way it is and I'm definitely downloading these
Great work Joey keep them coming

for instrumental hip hop it's not bad at all. not a huge fan of your drum sounds though but you've got some pretty good things going as of now
