yeah i'd like to hear something about comic con that doesn't have to do with credit card fraud
I want people to give me good reasons for trying to go next year
well i went for 7 years straight before this year, i could give you plenty of good reasons to go. unless you're wondering what specifically is going to be there next year
but in general i will just say that anyone who has even a remote interest in films, animation, art or games will find something or someone they love at comic-con, and if it's more than just a remote interest you won't be able to do everything you wanted to do and see everything you wanted to see there. it's 3 days of non-stop sensory overload of everything nerd culture.
yeah i want to hear about all the artists and folks you met
here's a brief list of people i have met and seen at comic-con over the years:
met:
- craig mccracken and lauren faust - they're always at laurens MW&TGG booth. not sure if they're still doing that cuz of MLP but i'm sure they still go to CC. got craig to sign a free book he was handing out called "wander over yonder"
- saw all the flapjack creators, met JG quintel and the guy that makes adventure time..forget his name
- met shinya tsukamoto one of my favorite japanese directors (tetsuo, bullet ballet) and got his autograph
- saw hayao miyazaki speak with john lasseter
- met chan wook park, director of oldboy
- met bill plympton and got a cel from "your face"
- met genndy tartakovsky and he drew samurai jack in my sketchbook
- met the entire voice cast of PPG and got their autographs
- met the entire voice cast of ATHF and got their autographs on limited edition posters
- met jhonen vasquez briefly, twice
those are just things i can remember. most of those happened with in the last 2 or 3 cons i went to.
I only went there for voice over related stuff and to hang out with some friends, but actually only went to one panel (out of three) that was dedicated to voice acting. I learned that you won't actually be able to go to all the panels you want to, so instead of going to the other two voice acting panels I went to a Regular Show/Problem Solverz (RS portion > PS portion) panel and an Adventure Time panel (which was fucking great). The main cast from all three shows were in each panel, as well as the creators and writers. John DiMaggio (voice of Jake) came in late to the Adventure Time panel, but made up for it by bringing in Matt Groening for a few minutes. That was pretty neat. Oh yes, and the Adult Swim Panels were great. Got to see clips from the new season of Venture Bros, Children's Hospital, NTSF (new show, but fucking hilarious), the upcoming Black Dynamite, and Robot Chicken.
But yeah, if you're an artist, gamer, comic lover, etc. there's no reason for why you wouldn't find anything to do at comic-con. 90% of events there are dedicated to that group of people. I'm probably gonna go back next year... but will go for one day passes instead. It was my first convention ever, and I have to say I enjoyed it a lot.

saw the walking dead panel after 3 hours of line waiting
saw some adult swim panels, most notably fucking black dynamite which looks incredible

saw cosplayers for the monarch and dr girlfriend, said that girlfriend sounds "much different in real life" and she said "LOOK DONT YOU SASS ME"
also saw a couple of cosplayers do arthur and his "horse" from the holy grail
met the mega 64 guys who were pretty cool, gave me a phineas and ferb bag for reasons idk
got swindled into buying a dr tran dvd, meet the guy who made dr tran + one of the guys from the spike and mike show was the swindler who swindled me
saw conan obrien walk by with 7 security guards and a crowd following him, didnt really hit any of us (me, j and his friend from sva) that that just happened until a few moments later
saw a bunch of tf2 cosplayers but no pyro ever
met redm, rubberninja, josh tomar, egoraptor (kinda we didn't really talk he was just with ross and his possy i guess), sev, his girlfriend (idk who she is sev sorry), and some other people who may or may not be familiar here for the first time
saw red try to sell starter pokemon to anyone and everyone which was fucking hilarious because half the people thought he was selling drugs or something
stayed in a mcdonalds overnight with red and j because our hotel fucked up our reservation
in short i did some stuff and saw some things and it was pretty great
oh shit how could i forget
i met jeff smith my fuckin idol guh whats wrong with me
it was really weird too he was nice and cool but he had some massive ADD going on which i understand i guess considering how long he has to stay there

i will always say the adventure time themed pizza place was best. it was so nice inside there and the pizza was awesome, just imo though
