ehhh maybe. maps like 2fort will be ON the server, they just won't be in the rotation, meaning that if you want to play them, you nominate them for a mapvote. if it wins the mapvote, it will be next to play. but i want the default map rotation to be only the best maps.
it seems like there's enough interest for me to start up a server. like i said i won't be able to do it until july (i can't dedicate enough time to it right now to make sure it's done right), but until then i'd like to hear your map & mod recommendations
don't do blockfort it's fucking awful and goes against the design principles of the entire game
CTF maps are easier than payload and controlpoint maps for random people playing together as long as it's not 2fort

seriously, tf2 is currently using up about a 3rd of my hard drive space and I am probably going to uninstall it until I get a computer to run the shit that isn't a 4 year old laptop with integrated graphics I'm not really sure how I was able to play it at all in the first place

I wouldn't want to be admin anyway because all that would happen is that every time someone fucked up the server by adding an incompatible plugin or leaving behind an errant string of code, I would get blamed for it after fixing the shit without telling anybody and lose my admin for never pointing out how often I had to do that sort of thing while the other admins talked shit to each other about what a selfish jerk I was for using the server to play test a map I made that they didn't like because it wasn't made by someone that actually knows how to render things in a 3dimensional environment not getting the message that I was trying to inspire other users to make their own maps and start working together to make the server more interesting instead of spending all of their time just trying to figure out how to drain as much entertainment out of the playing experience as possible while jseed begged people to pay for it FUCKING JESUS IT WAS SUCH A CLUSTERFUCK OH MY GOD FUCK uninstalling the game right now, feeling better all ready

bad news: jukebox has been out of commission since the mac update which according to the creator screwed up a bunch of shit
good news: while i was talking to him we were discussing what flash/javascript players need in order to make jukebox work again and he may have found one that can fix jukebox
having arena maps would be much better than blockfort anyways
also i remember some people started not being able to hear jukebox songs for some reason suddenly when we had it before so hopefully if we do get it back we can get around that issue too
uh well that probably had something to do with a very old official patch creating a bug
in its current form jukebox does not work at all on tf2 servers

also i dont know about others but i didnt listen to the music during the more tense fights it was more distracting then anyone else feel similar?
i dont mind jukebox cause tbh i like hearing my own music/nothing while playing + it has a tendcency to cause lag on most computers I play in.

use "-window -noborder" launch options if you want to run your music player and are worried about lag from alt-tabbing back and forth. you can switch back and forth seamlessly (or at least much faster if running in fullscreen) and we wouldn't need to do anything complex for something so expendable

This is true but you can appreciate the need to improve your individual skills just the same. Although normal arena maps do this just fine cause people often don't show the same levels of teamwork on this kind of map and you get lone people trying to kill everyone themselves. There's also the added bonus that it doesn't fucking go on forever and you have a goal you can still focus your teamwork onto should you decide you want to.

since this thread was bumped for no reason i might as well give an update on the situation. i'm not gonna even try and come up with an estimate as to when the server will be back up. the issue is that i am switching banks right now and there is a good chunk of money i thought i would have a lot earlier that i still don't have yet. so financially it's just not a good time for me to start this (because i want to host it on a vps instead of renting a shared server).
but this could change at any time and when it does i will definitely let you all know. sorry for getting all your hopes up for a july release.
