Hey everyone. Im starting my second flash. I am still pretty new to flash but im a quick learner. I need help on how to do the gradient skys that Rtil does. Ill show a screenshot of the intro (I just started today so yeah...)

Im still working on the backround it'self. If you could. Please tell me how I could also make it seem more "project Freetownish".
Thanx.
im trying to get it like this but with a more speedy-adrenaline feel to it.

TIP: dont use the straight line tool or the pencil tool
use the brush it will make everything you make look 5 times better
well if he has a tablet it might
otherwise he's going to be doing a lot more erasing and redrawing than he'd probably like to.
for sunset skies i'd recommend mid-saturated tones ranging from purple-blue to orange to peach to yellow, and a mid point of white being the sun if you can see it in the painting. colors of buildings should match the color scheme. most will be silhouettes, and the further away a building is the more blending into the background it is. for example, a building up close might have a dark saturated blue shadow, while a building far off in the distance would have a purple with a lot more orange in it.
To Taylor: Thanx. I just wanted to try something different but seeing how it looks, Ill do it with the brush instead.
To Rtil: Naw I don't have a tablet. Everything I drew so far is by mouse... Ill try what you said with the gradients. But im a little bit confused about what you were saying with the buildings. Like the further the buliding is it should have a little bit of the sky color?
Also, thanx.
Edit: Sorry for the double topic post. I didn't even realized that I did that.
yes, you are right about the buildings. in flash i'd suggest taking a 50% orange brush, wipe it over a purple on a lower layer and see what color you get. then tweak that color a bit by making it more vibrant (because blending colors this way washes them out and makes them go closer to gray)
Ok I gave it a shot. But I can't get the colors of the building and the gradient right... Any more tips?
Here's what I got...

the problem with the buildings is that you have one purple one and the rest are looking more blue to me. keep them the same hue unless they're getting closer to the color of the orange in the sky. the gradient looks pretty good to me. if you want to make it better, try removing the yellow and orange from it, then on a new layer make a sun, and start adding "beams" of light radiating from it, then change them to movie clips and start playing with the layer effects until you get a look that you like. it might also be a nice touch to have a bit of light in front of the bridge to make it seem like that sun is REALLY bright. one of those + shaped beams or just a very light white/yellow gradient.
you got the shadows right on the bottom right building for the most part. the others look like they aren't quite finished
my tablets broken so i feel your pain. but yeah do what someone already said, dont overuse the line tool, it makes everything look static and dull. and the colours are good in your last post, just work on getting a steadier hand with your mouse till you get a tablet.
Actually. that was just a lazy quick sketch(which would explain the colors). I just wanted to make sure that im doing the right thing.
Rtil. How do you rotate the gradients. I can't do it on flash. it would be 10 times easer for me to do this flash when I could rotate like lights with the gradients. Also, I dont know nothing about the movie clips. My teacher never showed me what they do...
