looks pretty damn cool to me and a lot harder than the first portal game
should be fun
Gonna wait to see initial reaction or a playable demo before i give it a go
I BOUGHT THIS SHIT
I'm going to buy it whenever I finish one of the many games I'm already playing
i'll be downloading this game through steam, can't wait
I really loved the first one, and do plan on getting this sequel, but I'm kind of having trouble getting excited about it
pre-ordered on day 1 when pre-orders were made available
finally got around to playing the first one today. really short and really boring. no interest in the sequel
Quote from: rtilfinally got around to playing the first one today. really short and really boring. no interest in the sequel
just kiddin the cake is a lie! XDDDDD
i want this quite a lot
wish they'd say something about the half-life series, tho
sure does look interesting
kinda annoying that chell is the main character again after all the BS of getting out of the complex in the first game. kinda robs the ending of any meaning. i wonder how snakes have sex
Portal was a good idea but it was short, kinda boring and the whole cake is a lie thing is a dumb internet joke. I'd buy Portal 2 if it was $10, just like how much the first game was worth.
Quote from: rtiljust kiddin the cake is a lie! XDDDDD
the best joke of 2008 is coming BACK
seriously though it was kinda boring if it wasn't for the last level probably the most boring game i've ever played
i wouldn't go that far but i thought i was the only person who felt really bored by the whole first 3/4 of portal
i think the ending makes up for the dryness of the first half
i guess
but i just feel like if a game like that was made by any company other than valve it wouldn't have such a huge following
it's not really acceptable to call a game that is easy and boring except for 1 level a solid game
i suppose the whole "portal" concept might have felt fresh at the time the game was released, but for me, it wasn't. it was just a more polished version of a game i had already played
portal 1 was too meandering and dull but 2 looks a lot more interesting from all the videos. not to mention portal 1 came included with team fortress 2 and half-life 2 episode 2, i wasn't really looking forward to it at all until i'd played it. was more like a nice little surprise than anything.
one good gimmick does not a good game make btw
it came with it if you got the orange box
i got all these games for free as gifts though lmao
come to think of it i never finished half life 2
For once I am in disagreement with a lot of you guys, I enjoyed Portal and didn't really find any of it boring, not even through a second play. Maybe I just enjoy listening to increasingly psychopathic computer systems and running through laboratories too much. Granted some levels were a bit annoying, but there's always levels like that in puzzle games.
I'm just really sad that I can't play Portal 2 when its released cause of upcoming exams in shizzle. I hope I can manage to avoid spoilers.

im getting it in a few days. cant wait!

Nope, you're not alone. Although there are seemingly still more people who enjoyed it. Still...
well i think we can all agree gabe is fat though am i right ¯\(ツ)/¯
to be honest this is probably going to be the last video game i play in a very long time
In all honesty, it's kind of hard to be rough on portal 1. In reality it was just made by a really small team and meant to be a fun little supplement to the Orange Box. Nobody expected it to turn into what it is now.
Although if Portal 2 sucks somehow, then it'll be a lot easier to hate.
I'm not sure if my wording makes sense here, but you probably get what I mean.

i loved portal 1 u all r h8ters
i played through it again after like 1 million years and i was just noobing around being a coon and i beat it in just about 2 hours and i was like WTF???? then some fag told me to get potatoes and i was like fuck u
the second one has a lot more action/humor/everything than the first one had
it's gonna rule
Quote from: dillybar-chan nya~i loved portal 1 u all r h8ters
It's alright, dillybaruguu-chan nya...I like Portal as well. I had a lot of fun trying to figure out how to get through the levels.
portal is my favorite fps. portal 2 will soon replace portal as my favorite fps.
portal 2 more like porta-potty poo

lmao rtil representing tba's troll facet
I don't have it, but thinking back to Portal 1. The first time I played it, it took me.. I'm guessing somewhere between 2 and 3 hours to beat (maybe a little less). Since then I've beat it twice, and both times it took me like, 40 minutes. It's just one of those games
if you have a different opinion than the general public you must be trolling because the only reason anyone has a unique opinion is to antagonize everyone else
shit is FACT
Loved it, just beat the single player campaign
yup it was short, ~4.5 hours for me
I was constantly laughing through out the game. Unlike the first portal, this one is hilarious.
I stayed at the defective turret assemble line for like 5 minutes laughing
Lots of awesome giant environments to explore and look at
story was fun and interesting
Wheatley is a beast I love that guy
I say go buy this game
whos up for some co-op?!
i was considering to buy that game but when i went on steam and saw it was fucking 50€ i thought "well shit im not gonna pay that much for a small game like that"
gonna torrent it later or something

i think the co-op has pretty much no replay value but it was still silly and kind of cute
shit keeps crashing. didn't have these problems last night. ugfuguhgfhugfhgfhugfhugh
lmao the solo campaign took me 9 hours but i was kinda drunk
i'd have the damned thing beat if it would stop crashing

i am experiencing the same problem, it crashes like every half hour (although that might have something to do with the fact that it's not a legit copy!)
Despite that, i have beaten the game anyways and i really have to say that the turning point of the game was fucking fantastic and the ending was amazing as well.
Great game overall, i really liked it. The humor is great, too.
Haven't played the co-op yet though.
i have a legit copy and it's never crashed
also the co-op is a lot more fun if you try to find unintended solutions like one player distracting the turrets while the other bum rushes them
am i the only one overwhelmed with how awesome this game was? maybe i haven't played very many good games.
co-op is fun!
I think i loved the chapter with the old science testing labs the most, Cave Johnson is a pretty cool guy!

This is probably one of my favorite games right now. It's just as good as the first. The writing is unmatched and the way the story unfolds is really spectacular even from a literary standpoint. Thankfully there was only one or two cake jokes. I suspect even Valve was tired of it. I don't know why that one caught on, because everything GLaDOS said at the end was so much more hilarious.

It's about 6-7 hours long, co-op is around 4-5. This is assuming you don't know any of the solutions, in which case it is probably a bit shorter. People who claim it's 2.5 hours, it's tiddled with dumb potato jokes or that it's a console port are dumb, though the menu interface is inferior to the old one because it tries to be fancier. Co-op has limited replayability, though they might release some extra maps or whatever I guess, and they're gonna put out an SDK.
Overall, it's good. Ending theme wasn't as catchy or memorable as 'Still Alive', but good either way, and the game is fairly pretty though I wasn't impressed by the vegetation, although it's fairly minor and doesn't play a role after the earliest stages of the game. Definitely worth playing through.
It's also not 50€, psi is full of shit. Even if it was, it would still be worth it compared to the other garbage that's been released so far this year, and I can definitely see it getting GOTY unless there's some other surprise in store or Duke Nukem Forever turns out to be fucking amazing instead of mediocre.

right, it's 49.99€, how could i have made such a mistake.
edit: oh and from what i've heard they will create an SDK or something so there will be user-created maps for the multiplayer soon.
it's 37,99€
maybe germany has some extra gay tax shit on steam games because games like portal 2 rots the minds of the youth and turns them into VICIOUS nazi asshole's,,,
german version has 3/4 of the game cut out
what the hell
why?
i didn't buy it before release because of that stupid potato sack thing but after seeing others play it both single player and co-op im still unsure on getting it
no point in buying it now seeing as you've had the whole game spoiled for you

well there's a difference between just seeing the end of a game and appreciating the ending when you have played the game in its entirety.
eh depends on the person. personally i can't appreciate the ending to a game that's been spoiled for me. the whole thrill of getting there is not knowing what's going to happen.
turning point was predictable and the ending was ok
still fun though
