Because I sure as hell am considering it.
i am definitely considering a career in animation
Well Im actually learning flash in my Multimedia class. Hopefully I will get better than what im making right now...Lol.
world domination through animation
just to add some contrast i think animations always something im gonna do as a hobby. i love it but i have other pursuits too, so it'll be my second life
Nope
haven't got a single drop of creative talent in me
beyond stick figures
Its a backup plan for me incase my other job goes through the cracks
Man, being an animator has always been a dream of mine, and I'm trying to pursue it. But I was wondering, what are some good classes to take at school?
Like, im a sophmore and this year I'm taking graphic deisgn, and last year I took 2D/3D art. So, just wondering what I should take.
Also, I can take animating but only on my senior year.
my high school offered me nothing in terms of animation, i'd be surprised if yours did
just do your best to build a strong art and animation portfolio on your own, and get resources online and through books
my high school offered my jack shit. basic computer graphics and web design, we used flash in like, 1 project, and it was for design purposes.
My school does, "infotech" 10/11/12. 20% Flash, 15% Graphic design, 15% Python (script), 10% Java, 30% 3D Game design, 10% web design.
The % are slightly different for 11 then 12. 10 is mostly an intro to these things.
Also, you can work on just about any project you want as a personal assignment for extra marks.
hahaha my school offers like 1 computer class period
and yea i'm definitely pursuing a curreer in animation
my school has a few classes
i signmed up for web mastering but we dont get into flash until christmas
and also on the subject of animation as a career, i doubt it
ya no, i'm into game design. i play with flash, but thats as far as it goes.
Yeah, no. I don't think I have the patience to put the work in to being a professional artist. I've always liked making games though, and art/animation is a vital part of any non-shitty game.
I can't even be bothered to animate something when I'm not forced to (i.e. when it's not my job) so animating something when I'm forced to would sure kill the fun.
i do love animating, but i think it has to be your ultimate dream and passion for you to persevere and make it. you have to also be a certain calibre of artist (which i am not)
My high school offers an animation class. You get to learn flash, drawing skills, web design etc.
i didnt take it though im in Welding
I would love a job in animation
what job are you all aiming for? like an actual animator, or a director of your own series?
Something with 2D animation on TV would be more then swell
I am rtil's inbetweener, I do 88% of what you see in his flashes. So yeah.I guess.

Also, I didn't know Zwickle was from Korea!
of course it was a joke :|

lmfao I already thought so. I didn't really believe it so I asked!!

yep i'm trying to be an animator. i love doing 2D but I'm trying to get into 3D since that seems to be a key point in today's market. Once I get into college (my sophomore year) i'm going to apply for an internship there to see if I can learn about their workflow and environment and everything. Maybe if I'm lucky (and talented enough) they'll let me come back full time. haha
in my dreams.
who are you
I 4M RUSSHKA KOMMJINIST I K1LL EVIL KAPITITJILI5T
Quote from: taylorwho are you
lmfao exactly what I was wondering.
Also, 3D is gay, 4D is where it's at. Depending on when you see the film, it changes! You know, when you see it at night, all scenes play at night.
Stuff like that.

that could actually be possible in flash with some actionscript thing that changes the sky etc depending on what time your computer clock is set at etc etc advanced shit

Yeah, I've seen it on a some websites already, it's nice.
that's a very good idea. once i get my lazy ass working on some sort of advanced shit for theroomunder (Which will take years btw for now im sticking to the basics) i will attempt something like that

um it's not really hard it's like 10 lines of AS saying something like "at 6pm play mc1, at 9pm play mc2" and stuff like that.

new. =0 are new people not welcome?
make an intro topic
I want to be an animator,

just to get variety,
Im working on flash/ have been for 2 years now, this year ive made the most progress.
However web developement is my fall back... but eh im not sure how things are going to turn out.
My school doesnt offer an animation class but its still out there.
Were all gonna be fuckin broke and miserable
Im allready a step ahead
i'd say I'M ALREADY HALFWAY THERE
VRRRP halfway there!
VRRRP halfway there!
VRRRP halfway there!
Yes, absolutely. An ideal job for me would be working at Pixar, or at one of my favorite video game companies. I'm not saying this would be easy at all, I would need to work a LOT to achieve this, now is the time to start, even if only a little bit. Brad Bird, who is one of my favorite directors, made his first animation when he was 11 years old. "On a tour of the Walt Disney Studios at age 11, he announced that someday he would be part of its animation team, and soon thereafter, began work on his own 15-minute animated short. Within two years, he had completed his animation, which impressed the cartoon company. By age 14, barely in high school, Bird was mentored by the animator Milt Kahl, one of Disney's legendary Nine Old Men. After graduating from Corvallis High School in Corvallis, Oregon in 1975, Bird took a three year break. He was then awarded a scholarship by Disney to attend California Institute of the Arts, where he met and befriended another future animator, Pixar co-founder and director John Lasseter." That's pretty impressive.

i'm not so concerned about money, as long as i have enough to live. and there's not always a lot of money in animation (even 3d), but if you're doing what you love..
that's kind of how I feel about music composition...
especially with music downloading crap all over the internet

Hey i started animating when i was 11 too like Brad Bird or whatever the fuck
only my first animation was 2 seconds long, incomplete, with no backgrounds and shitty drawings.
Am i gonna be famouszzz??????
when i was 11 i was playing with legos and making paper airplanes
animation has been a huge interest of mine over the past couple of years. ive always been a mediocre animator, but in the last month or so my skills have increased tenfold, cause i started practicing art more. drawing was always my flaw, especially backgrounds.
my main strength is writing, ive written numerous scripts. a job in animation is more of a dream than a reality to me. im joining the army for 4 years, then i want to go to university, most probably to study creative writing or animation. im hoping the army will give me the financial security to move out and go to university, and maybe make my dream come true
and i agree on the money part. i could get a job working for a stock broker or for some company, be earning 3 digits a year but i wouldnt be happy.
Quote from: rtilwhen i was 11 i was playing with legos and making paper airplanes
Man, I fucking love those. My dad forcefully threw them away though :'(
mine were all destroyed and thrown in buckets
yea but right now my main concern is to actually get good at drawing before i try any advanced animation shit on my own
Quote from: rtilmine were all destroyed and thrown in buckets
how the fuck did you break legos lmfao
