buck, im not sure how to phrase this without disrespecting you, but to put it bluntly i dont think any respectable art school would accept your portfolio as is.

I haven't uploaded anything anywhere for a good year and a half, so you never seen my recent shit...(and by shit i mean retarded doodles and test drawings)

but in all honesty, your right.   My "portfolio" is a fucking travesty.

I think the reason my drawings are so hideous is that I only spend, like 15-30 minutes (at the most) drawing when i should be spending more than 2 hours
I just get...fuckin depressed

So... What i need to do is suck it the FUCK up, grab my BALLS, be a MAN, and DRAW until my hands bleed

just remember that there are no strict ideals when it comes to any type of art. painting, drawing, animating, writing... these are all just ways of conveying a personal emotion, image, feeling, or idea. if you produce something you feel is great it doesnt matter how long it took you to make it as long as you think its good.

although, other people will be more likely to agree with you about things like that if youve refined your technique and are skillful and original with your art. hope this gives you something to think about.

You should just go to a [normal] school with a good art program instead

All you have to do is show that you have skill and potential. I pretty much failed my year 12 and got in by applying outside of the school system and going in for an interview. I even got knocked back by one multimedia course because they said I wouldn't learn any skills by doing that course and they recommended me for a more advanced subject. All I did was show them a few flash doodles, a couple simple games, and some of my sketches.

All you gotta be is confident.

It depends on what you want to do. Some art schools are focused on printmaking and things like that, some digital design or animation.

I'd start by narrowing down what kind of job as an artist you want, then look at schools. "animation/art" is a very broad subject.

what aether said, otherwise you might end up doing a course specifically about (for example) game graphics when you might be looking for a more film/storytelling orientated career

funny you should say that.   I actually plan on visiting a nearby art school (http://www.uarts.edu/academics/cad/ma/bfaanim.html) two Tuesdays from now.   Hopefully, it's a good fit for me.

In any case, If I want to go anywhere, I better get busy dammit!
