i'll be posting all my recordings of my vinyl records here.
first one is from a 1937 bunny berigan collection, one of my favorite tracks of his "i can't get started". there is some hiss in places that i unfortunately can't get rid of, but it seemed to only be coming from this song. i'm still pretty happy with it:

Keep 'em comin' please, I'd like to make something out of these in the future when I get the time

and since i missed yesterday, here's a bonus track! recorded in 1926, this record was in terrible shape. it took me about half an hour to get it to this level of quality, which says something about the condition it was in. it had many horrible pops from indents in the record, and the noise level was very high. but i'm happy with how it turned out.
annette hanshaw was one of the first and most popular jazz singers of her time. she retired at an early age of 35, speculation was that she was not confident of herself and did not like getting up on stage. but she recorded many albums before then.
here's a pic of her, and the copy of the 78 i have.
you'll recognize a hanshaw 78 because she says "thank ya'll" at the end of them.

These are great Wow its amazing to think that these voices/performances have not been heard in the flesh by real ears for like 80+ years, yet are still around for us to listen to just as it was.
So, would we be slammed for copyright infringement if we used any of these for animations or whatever or are they now "free" because they're really, really old?
<--- wants to use 'em somehow...
Quote from: Hnilmikor are they now "free" because they're really, really old?
this is funny and sad at the same time
most of them are in the public domain now
but if you use them in a non-commercial animation, no harm done
Old music is just the best....
Wait. rtil, did you add that slight reverb to the tracks? It sounds very nice with it. Very classy.
Also wasim, Do you ever have anything nice to say at all? You have no conciteration for classic music do you.
this isnt classical music ghost
but then again wasim no dickridin or shit this is really pretty cool

My bad.
I ment classical as in classy.
More please.
Quote from: GhostingFishProWait. rtil, did you add that slight reverb to the tracks? It sounds very nice with it. Very classy.
yes, i always add a little reverb to some of the tracks. i also try to do noise reduction and remastering on the ones with poor quality like the annette hanshaw and cab calloway ones. some can be improved in 5 minutes, others a little longer. some have some really bad cracks and pops from indents in the vinyl
cool

Hey rtil, are any of these songs under the public domain now? I'd love to use em in a cartoon but I have no idea if they are still considered under copyright or not...a lot of older 20-30s cartoons fall into public domain now but yeah just curious about these..if you even know.
any song published in 1922 or earlier is public domain
if you want to search individually you can use this site: http://www.pdinfo.com/list.php (http://www.pdinfo.com/list.php)

Awesome! Thanks Flash This is a very helpful site!
oh shit rtil does your record player play 78's? a lot of old jazz records are 78s and mine can only play 33s and 45s. these are pretty cool, cab sounds great on these as well.
i've recently been expanding my record collection. i've even got a nice cab calloway LP, anyone want me to upload some of it? it's awesome because it features this message on the back of it:
QuoteIMPORTANT NOTICE: This is a "New Orthophonic" High Fidelity recording, designed for the phonograph of today or tomorrow. Played on your present machine, it gives you the finest quality of reproduction. Played on a "Stereophonic" machine, it gives even more brilliant true-to-life fidelity. You can buy today, without fear of obsolescence in the future.
oh shit rtil, do you have "zaz zuh zaz" on vinyl? i hella want that but i couldn't find it anywhere
DAMN SON
lmao, yeah a lot of my records say shit like that, or something like "play this record on ____(brand name)____ needles for the best quality!". and yes, my record player can play 33's, 45's and 78's.
i do not have that cab calloway single though. but i'm sure someday i'll come across it
tubular bells has a really great message on the cover:
QuoteIn Glorious Stereophonic Sound (can be played on mono-equipment at a pinch)
This stereo record cannot be played on old tin boxes no matter what they are fitted with. If you are in possession of such equipment please hand it into the nearest police station.
but that was an intentional joke
i should read my labels and see if they say anything funny
holy shit we should all inject heroin and listen to these records
definitely sampling these later
wasim, what program/tools did you use to make those beats?
