STEP 1: use firefox
STEP 2: get firebug (http://getfirebug.com/)
STEP 3: go to the page of a song you want to steal off of hypemachine, but don't play the song just yet
STEP 4: press F12. this should open the firebug tab in firefox. if you don't see it, click somewhere on the page and press F12 again.
STEP 5: go to the "Net" panel in firebug. your browser should be looking something like this right now:
Firebug is an awesome tool. I'm about to find a whole bunch of sites I could do this trick with.

I have found better ways to get music without p2p or torrents....
Torrents are
EVIL!!! The government can track you using them. And 4shared gave me a spam-bomb. But I "defused" that suck'a.

protip: the government really doesn't give a shit about internet fags downloading free music, they are more worried about the distributers of the pirated music
or instead of doing any of that shit you go to sound settings and put on stereo mix then record in any program ever BUT HEY WHAT THE HELL AM I TALKING ABOUT
i buy my music THANK YOU VERY MUCH
^yeah that too
by the way lostman congratulations on getting a spam bomb via fucking 4SHARED, try not searching for britney spears blowjob videos next time

this is probably the least efficient and dumbest way of ripping music
and torrents are great and everything but for people who don't have a what.cd account, don't want to wait 60 seconds to download slowly off of a file sharing service, or just want a single, hypem is perfect

thats a good point. not many singles (unless theyre very popular which usually means they're not the best) come out in torrents for download. torrents are like the costco of pirating, you get the whole discography.

you dont have to install anything and if you record in stereo it sounds exactly the same but i guess that is pretty stupid

uh, yes you
would have to install something. unless you're planning on recording it in sound recorder, which can't save mp3's - and that reminds me, you would most likely have to get an mp3 encoder to go along with your recording software if you're doing it in something like audacity which
does not come with one.
and it won't "sound exactly the same" unless you match the exact bitrate of the source - something only a real source rip would do
then you have to sit there and let it record, hoping no other computer sounds (instant messages, computer prompts, clicks, videos, etc) pop up while you're recording
and then you have to most likely trim the beginning and end of your recording and encode + save it. that will take the length of the song + a few minutes
on the other hand, my method requires a disabled by default firefox plugin (an extension, not really an installation, takes a few seconds) that is unbelievably useful in a number of ways. obviously you've never used it nor understand its capabilities, but at the very least this teaches you how to use it in one specific way that is fast, easy and simple. oh and it works on a ton of other sites as well.
ripping a song in firebug = 30 seconds
ripping a song with stereo mix recording = length of song + 3/4 minutes

when I legitimately love an album and I find it for a reasonable price, I buy it.
