Hey everyone! Its CVG, back from the dead! Well not really I'm on irc EVERY day haha but still...

I just launched a Kickstarter to turn my character Skitzo the 1920s Killer Bear into a plush toy. It's something I've been dreaming of doing for YEARS! In fact if you go back into the tba threads for 2014 and 2013...and 2012! Its been on my bucket list and my new years resolution goals heh. But yes after finally finding a plush company to make me a prototype...*I had to spend a lot out of pocket for that*  I have a real Skitzo the bear toy prototype made and want to get it produced!! Yay! If you can give it any support/pledge I will be eternally grateful :) Theres cool buttons, tshirt, and comics as incentives too!!

Sincerely you friendly neighborhood demon on tba, CVG

Ah thanks man! Finally someone bothers to comment on a doodle i did almost a year ago haha. Yeah looking back at it now I agree the colors and shading in particular could have been better on it. It had so many elements that I ended up skimming on the details and such since it was just for fun anyways...meanwhile the skitzo posters were to be items I actually printed and sold so yeah I did try extra hard on those to make em look GOOD. Haha but overall thanks! I do need to practice of those digital pics a bit more...as I still feel my stronger medium is traditional drawing and paintings...hence the lady doodle probably looking way better because its real ink on paper as opposed to my inking on a digital doodle like Fibble by the sink. Just got to practice more!

I've tried the new ones....they tend to be overly sensitive and I hate the fact that its actually hand/touch active on the surface now so unless you turn that off you cant place your hand resting on the tablet or move as you draw because it reads that as a flick sign and the canvas spins sideways in photoshop which really pissed me off haha. The benefits of the extra zooms and pressure touches (you can use styluses that mimic paint brush tips) didn't sway me very much and so going into it knowing only the intuos 3 I had a bit of a re-learning curb with the item before I got it right. And even then it was like "why would i pay extra for features I ended up turning off?" <--i was trying it out in a creative lab in a college I never got the 5. but yeah if you just want to save money take the 3 and its great (i still have mine, even though I use a cintiq now, for when I have to take it on the go to another computer and its just such a die-hard)....but if you have extra funds to buy the Newest THING then sure why not (just don't expect a huge jump in anything with the product). Hope that helps CDM!! :]

Thanks Tardigrade, Glad the textures turned out well!  and Thanks Redm haha yeah I do have some left which are in my webstore here: http://inthedark.bigcartel.com/product/skitzo-the-bear-vintage-movie-posters

And so during 4th of July my neighborhood turns into a war zone of explosions and screaming people in the street with car alarms and dogs whining everywhere. It probably because you can buy a ton of illegal fireworks in China Town and nobody stops it heh. Its starts around 7pm and then lasts until about 3am......Its really REALLY loud too. Here is a sound audio clip I recorded from outside my window:

And that above is only a minutes worth, just imagine that going on for 8 more hours and you can begin to feel the frustration i get haha. So what do i do to relieve that?? I draw a rushed messy comic about it of course!! :b

so here you go!

acrylic on canvas with massive amounts of slowdrying medium doesnt look right still so ill need to do more to it

This is really nice! I like the way you used subtle blends of yellows and oranges in the white parts to give the suit a gritty look (also adds nice values). You can tell that its all applied very thinly though...probably because not enough paint was used on the surface so you see the grain of the canvas through the work. But it doesn't look bad, I actually kind of like the texture that its making for this piece, since the subject matter is kind of old and crusty in nature so it helps accent the aging of the suit haha. Very nice work! hope to see more :)

OH LOOK ITS MY 1000th post! Whoo  :sup:

I noticed its been a while since I posted anything on this thread....so here's a sneek peek preview of my skitzo the bear movie posters!
I made only about 50 of each style and sold them at my last showing at the cartoon art museum :]  I'm still looking to find some poster tubes that dont cost me a fortune so I can make them available for sale online....but till then you guys are the first to see them.

They are drawn like old 1920s style cartoon movie posters *the way you would have known about a new cartoon short in your local nickel theater*. I based these two on the actual "scrap" flashes Ive made for Skitzo, "Too hot to handle" and "Can ya spare a dime?". I want to make 2 more for "Puppy love blues" and "I'll see ya on the other side"....coming up in time!

preview for scale:
