I like your idea CVG of having a disapproving sound for when Burch is addressing Norm. The joke kind of formed out of D-Mac forgetting to do the part for Burch talking about Norm but the silence played pretty well when I was getting critiques in class. Having some sound on it would totally enhance it though.

Whoa, did you never catch my e-mail? I sent that line 6 days after the others, when I realized I'd skipped it.

Ugh. Of all people, they use that self-titled "professional" voice artist. Voicegirl is a disgrace.

Right now I just want Robin Williams to go away.
I don't think I've liked him in anything since Aladdin.

Hey, don't mention it, Firer.
As I said, your script was a lot of fun too do, and I'm glad you're happy with how it turned out.

I do at least like that he's not doing sprite movies anymore, but I didn't think this was a good idea from the start.
Resubmitting it was of course, an even worse idea.

So here's a thread to talk or ask about any voise actins from any animation cartoon or flash thing or whatever. okay, go.

Continued from somewhere. Warning incoming giant megapost. =/

Quote from: michellei mean are you saying people who suck at what they do don't ever get work?
Well, certainly not in a general sense. But in Union animation voice work (which is, most of the non-anime stuff in North America), standards and budgets are typically higher and casting directors are more experienced. It's hard enough to impress a good voiceover agent to begin with, which is needed in order to tryout for pretty much all Union work.

In the case where someone lucks their way through a Union audition, but can't meet the producers' and voice director's standards in the actual paying recording session, then they're going to have a pretty hard time ever finding work again. Word really gets around.

Quote from: MRatTom Cruise
Never really cared for him, though some would say he was good long ago. Point is, film actors have the benefit of riding out their star power and name value, and this is exactly what Cruise does. Voice actors don't have this benefit, and by comparison, are easily replaceable.

QuoteCam Clark.
You say this like most people would agree. If he couldn't perform to directors' requirements, he certainly wouldn't work nearly as much as he does. I actually think his vocal range is really poor, so thankfully I've never heard him play more than 2 major roles in a single production.

QuoteKagome...
She's working professionally in non-Union anime right now, as well she should be. I don't enjoy and barely understand the anime style, but she fits it to a tee. Shame she doesn't focus on much else, and she probably needs to totally reinvent her style if she ever hopes to get animation work outside of anime.

QuoteLook at Egoraptor. Horrible cartoons, yet they're the most popular things.
Doesn't really tie into my current point. His voice work would be another story though...

QuoteAnd I never said YOU were horrible D-Mac, I said the job you did was. And frankly, it was. The most important thing in voice acting is going to always be to sound natural, like you're a believable person. And you didn't. It's that simple.

Indeed, believability is what makes a performance. This couldn't be more true. On top of this, the challenge to an actor is:
What is believable and natural for said person, given their specific situation?

While the writing could've been better, some key points in it left me with only one believable direction to take my character in, and I felt you overlooked them all. Hence why you considered my performance to be so totally wrong, while I couldn't agree with you at all.

Quote from: MRatHe sounded like he woke up and mumbled into the microphone then went back to sleep.
In a really twisted way, in terms of the emotion I realized I needed to get across,  that's actually.... almost half right.
Now, why on earth would I aim for anything close to that? There's actually a few very good reasons.

Side note: Most of my many, many, many unused takes where actually quite the opposite.

Quote from: MRatdrew all the attention away from the dialogue and put the focus on his voice itself, which is terrible.
I've seen you say this exact same thing once or twice about others. Is it a rule of sorts that you picked up through your theater background? It'll never be said by a voice director, as the voice actor's only tool to sell dialogue IS though their voice. We wouldn't say that one can overshadow another.

Unless, this is just your way of saying "you're playing too large/too small" or "you're selling the wrong emotion".

Quote from: CoolDrMoneyHe don't take kindly to critique ;(
I'm actually very used to seeing the value in constructive critiques I'm given. Honestly, If I wasn't, I wouldn't have any work.

My weakness, I guess, is not taking kindly to being called horrible. Though if I actually was, again... I wouldn't be working.
