Quote from: wasp on August 10, 2025 05:48 PMWanted to have a good image for the Toyhouse folder so I drew a group photoQuote from: wasp on July 30, 2025 05:27 PMBird fella who gives the girls their powers à la Luna from Sailor Moon. Lightly based on the Inca tern though fairly removed in several aspects.Quote from: wasp on July 16, 2025 01:07 PMWalrus girl. Less to say about the design this time. The patterns are based somewhat on those associated with the area around the Mezen river in Russia, though those are quite specifically black and red and the walrus-based colour scheme didn't really permit me that. Originally she was going to have completely blonde hair and a hood over it but it felt somewhat incongruent with both the other girls and the general design philosophy of magical girls as a whole. The background element is oysters, in reference to the Lewis Carroll poem.Quote from: wasp on June 26, 2025 10:20 PM
Had a goofy little idea of a team of magical girls whose identities are concealed by them growing thematically appropriate moustaches when transforming. This one's based on the Chinese dragon, or "long" or sometimes "loong," and so her outfit is based on the dragon robe or longpao. Haven't given her a regular name yet but as a magical girl name I've been using Moustache Loongue, a pun I'm quite happy with.
Second one, based off of a catfish and the associated Japanese myth of a huge one that caused earthquakes. The stone says "kaname-ishi," or something like "spirit stone," which was the name of one particular stone that supposedly prevented earthquakes by holding the catfish down. Her pun name is Nyamazu, a mix of namazu (catfish) and nyan because I thought it would be funny if she decided to pretend she was cat-themed rather than catfish-themed specifically. This is also why I drew her with her fist in that position.
