first full show by Studio Trigger (Little Witch Academia, Inferno Cop) announced, a new Hiroyuki Imaishi series called Kill La Kill (or Killer Kill).

It's a 2-cours battle action show set in an all girls high school. The main characters are Ryuuko Matoi and Satsuki Kiryuuin. Satsuki is a transfer student who carries a one handed longsword and believes that might makes right. She attempts to subjugate the school body using her strength. Ryuuko is the one who stands in her way, and seems to be driven by revenge.

Originally the plan was to make a pure battle manga sort of series set in a highschool, with the main character beating rival after rival in combat. After Nakashima compled about 4 episodes worth of scripts, Imaishi probably got bored of it because he decided to trash everything. The series has apparently since been changed to focus on character drama instead. The rivalry between the two main characters will be a major driving force.

作画 MAD - Sakuga: The Art of Animation

"Sakuga" is a term that is used to describe strategic use of very good animation in anime. This is often used sparingly, and to emphasize powerful or important scenes. It is usually a very noticeable contrast to the frequent use of limited, inexpensive animation that is common due to Japanese budgets. This isn't a uniquely Eastern thing (see: Animation Bump), but due to the high amount of Japanese animation produced every year, it's something we see a lot more often these days in anime. Many people are a fan of this in particular, and like to pick out the high quality work in Eastern animation, spreading the word on the individual animators that put so much hard work into their craft.

new anime coming out by Studio Trigger! Studio Trigger is lead by Hiroyuki Imaishi (dir. Gurren Lagann, Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt, Dead Leaves, FLCL Ep 4), and this anime will be directed by Yoshinari You (episode director for Panty and Stocking and probably my favorite animator still alive today)

really excited for this, there hasn't been an anime that's come out that i've wanted to see this much in a long time. really cool western feel to all of yoshinari's works and it shows through really well

i saw this post today and a lot of it gave me an awful headache and reminded me about social justice (and why i often don't like tumblr). personally, i find a lot of social justice people really irritating, mainly due to their obsession with classifying everything and pedantically nitpicking about things like "trigger words" and "privilege", seemingly expecting people to feel guilt about the fact that they were born into circumstances outside of their control and happened to get a slightly better end of the stick than some people (???). but i can never tell whether social justice people are actually stupid or if i'm just bitter because their favorite thing to complain about is white males and because i am a grouchy rigid white dude.

what is your opinion on social justice?
