General / Double Trouble
July 3, 2011 11:57 PM
Last week, I had to put my longtime cat of fourteen years, Licorice, to sleep.  He had been deteriorating rapidly over the course of a month or so and we now believe nothing could have been done to save him.  It was hard as he had been my one and only pet during my childhood.  He will never be forgotten.

Today, I revisited a local shelter with my folks in order to pick out a new kitten.  My mother and I had differing opinions on which cat was best, so my father decided that it would be best to bring both home.  Now I have two, beautiful, bright kittens who need names.  The male was named Ringo, and the female named Clover, but i would prefer to change them.  I'm partial to the idea of space names or NASA missions. Post some ideas!

Here is the female, currently named Clover:

Sorry for the big ass pictures.

General / A Discussion of Current Events
May 30, 2011 01:22 AM
I'd like to invite you all to discuss the context behind the events that have spanned back a few months, and more importantly, that have recently transpired. I know that I may not be the most appropriate person to initiate such a discussion as I have been relatively inactive on the site for some time.  I would like it if we could think about what we look for in this community and what it means to us.  I would even more appreciate it if  we could take a critical look at our own participation or alternatively, observation of recent events.  It is my concern that what has come to pass,  and more specifically the consequences of certain actions have fostered an environment of polarization, mob mentality and mean-spirited behavior.  Yes, I realize this is the internet and yes I realize this might be an uphill battle, but i do this becuase I genuinely feel concern for the well being of all of you and this community as a whole.  It has been a source of camaraderie and inspiration for me and I truly appreciate everyone here.  I hope that in talking about this matter civilly, we can create a conversation about what we value as a group, how to make sure that visiting TBA is an enjoyable experience, and hopefully reach a level of mutual understanding.

I would greatly appreciate it if we could keep to certain guidelines:

-Civility
-Refraining from finger pointing
-Clarification of issues rather than jumping to conclusions
-Trying to maintain objectivity (I realize this might be difficult)
-Empathy towards others' viewpoints

Thank you; I appreciate any and all respectful and meaningful input.

Today I went to a vintage motorcycle rally held on the small Vashon Island situated in the Puget Sound. I took pictures of my day.

General / Worst Thing Your Parents Did
April 24, 2009 02:48 AM
Im in a particularily nasty and angsty mood, so i wanna share experiences.  What is the worse thing you parents ever did/said to you?  And I'm not asking for like, "my daddy forced me to wear a sailor suit and stroke his Captain's log", no i mean the most twisted, evil, fucked-up thing they ever did in your presense.

Go to Bumbershoot link to see this years line up.  3 day passes are only $80 right now.  To tell the truth I'm a little disappointed by some of the choices..Katy Perry and Sheryl Crow? C'mon.  But with local favorites like Modest Mouse heading the bill, you know I'll be there.  Anyone else planning on going?

General / Coraline... hve you seen it?
February 23, 2009 02:40 AM
Man, I saw this with my friends last night and thought it was one good movie.  The fact that it was done with stop-go animation was incredible, the animation must have take FOREVER to finish.  All-around a delightfully creepy flight of fancy that is thought by too many to just be a children's movie.  What do you think?

Greetings and salutations!  I'm your friend Ryan T.  I'm from Seattle, a little city of perpetually pale people with addictions to coffee and their laptops!  I go Roosevelt High School (anyone else from Seattle been there?) and might be entering college next year, which means 2 years ahead since I am sixteen.  I am enthralled to become a part of your cyber colony!  So I just wanted to start by giving a big HELLO to everyone out there and I look forward to chatting with ya' real soon!

Oh, and by the way... my name may be Ryan, but last time I checked, I was a girl.

Ciao!
