I know right? A Mari Okada production, bad?

So emotionally manipulative it felt like an entire abusive relationship condensed to 2 hours. Worse than Koe no Katachi in that respect (and all others).

As bad as Mary to Majo no Hana.

Don't pay your money to see this filth.

Stay home and watch Asobi Asobase instead.

This means you rtil because I know there's no one else here.

alien covenant was so fuckin bad i wasnt even angry we were actually laughing when we went to see it. also pretty uncomfortable. not in the "damn this is creepy and unsettling!", like i was really cringing at the majority of the film. I have seen so many fucking awful films in my life, but i think like seeing awful film happen on the big screen was compounding the experience

GOD LOVIN' MAN TELLS THEM "LAND ON UNCHARTED PLANET". IT GOES WRONG. HE LOOKS AT CHARACTER. I WHISPER UNDER MY BREATH "we shouldnt have come here" HE FUCKING SAYS "we shouldnt have come here"
I LAUGH AAAAAAAA I DIDNT LIKE IT WHEN THE ROBOT TAUGHT THE OTHER ROBOT HOW TO PLAY THE WHISTLE but THAT WAS JUST THE TIP OF THE ICEBERG !!!!!!!!!!!!!

when the android was cuttin his hair i had a nightmarish thought that hed killed the lady from the first film and was using her body or something to replace his. considering how the events played out after that scene, i was both surprised and disappointed that i wasnt actually correct. i fucking hated this film

the perfect proportion tiny 6 inch alien that stood up out of the guys body made me fucking choke and we couldnt stop laughing in the cinema. other people in the cinema were laughing. it looked so fucking stupid like a bad photoshop job. then the android did the little air high five. i fucking hated this film

A surprisingly underrated quality of movies that aren't straight comedies (yawn), especially in the west. What are your favorites?

Tadanobu Asano was in a lot in the 2000s for some reason.

Korea made a fair amount in the previous decade as well.

Takashi Miike remade The Quiet Family and it's one of his best movies:

Also Hausu and The Host which are two of my all time favorites but they have terrible trailers.

I also just saw Guardians of the Galaxy, vol. 2 which was pretty fun but also had ideas and shit, even if the first half wasn't great and a lot of the jokes didn't land. Way better than the first or any of Marvel's standard quipcore capeshit though imo.

Now is every gay PC baby's chance to play two of the best seventh-gen action games for $20.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/460790/Bayonetta/
http://store.steampowered.com/app/460810/Vanquish/

Ignore the absolute shit tracks they chose for the trailers these games have god-tier OSTs:

In Bayonetta you play as a witch dominatrix who uses guns and S&M to defend feminine mysterions against all nine levels of the angelic hierarchy.

In Vanquish you play as an ex-American Footballer turned DARPA test dummy who defends capitalism against Russian death robots in space.

They're both fucking amazing games made by Platinum and published by Sega at the end of the noughties.

Now that the first cour is over can we talk about how great this single episode was?

This is such a great look for this show. Feels like a real throwback to 70s kid anime. Had an actual arc as well, and consequences for the magic. The team that wrote/directed/storyboarded this should be doing every episode.

AKA How not to do things (write, art, etc.)

ITT: Post things you think are bad and explain why you think they're bad.

Shirow Masamune is a great artist but his early work definitely suffers from Tim Buckley syndrome (could partially be the translator's fault). Nobody talks like this. Who has time for all this expository dialogue that says absolutely nothing and doesn't drive the narrative forward at all? My eyes glaze over.

This on the other hand is good comic writing on one of the most word-heavy pages in the book. You could literally find this volume after the apocalypse with all previous pages missing and get the gist of what was going on (also true for every single other page). I'm two and a half volumes deep into Appleseed and I still couldn't sum up the story if asked.

This is definitely the best video I've seen showcasing one of the most famous examples in music.

Any thoughts?
