the only part i didn't understand was [spoiler]why were cillian murphy and ching chong in leonardo decaprio's dream when they died? shouldn't they be going to limbo due to the level of sedation? was leonardo decaprio's dream limbo? if so, why was only ching chong really old? or was leonardo decaprio's dream not limbo, but mal somehow stopped cillian murphy's subconcious from dropping down to limbo when she killed him? oh i guess that explains it[/spoiler]

[spoiler]from my interpretation, limbo is a state plane anyone can reach once they are killed through sedation or continuing to go into dreams. the reason why ching chong was there was he had "died" already in the first level, he to be there from the very beginning of the inception process. the reason why mal killed cillian murphy was she knew leo would go there to get him, thus leaving with the ultimate decision of staying with her or failing the mission. He by doing this then confronts mal that even though she is a reflection of mal, she isn't and will never be the real thing, thus allowing him to let go of her.[/spoiler]

from what i can tell the ending must include some cameos from snape and palpatine[/spoiler]

so i finally saw this film last night, it was the last day it was in theaters reasonably close to me. first of all, i thought it was funny that [spoiler]time only slowed down in the previous level only when it was convenient for the story. what i mean by this is that we don't see the chase scene on dream level 1 start to slow down until he backs up off the bridge, even though it had been playing out just as quickly as the levels below it before then.[/spoiler] but i understand it's a movie and they don't really have much of a choice, although it would have been cool if [spoiler]parts of level 1 played out in slow pieces so we get a segmentation of what is going on, because we already knew what he was going to do and did not need to see that many chase sequences in full speed[/spoiler]. one thing i didn't understand though was [spoiler]why the chinese dude was so old in limbo. he didn't seem to have been dead on level 3 that long.[/spoiler]

i really liked the film, though i think it would have been cool if they played with the dream world a little more than they did.

[spoiler]time slowed down when they entered each of the levels but there was no need for the movie to show the speed difference. to the people in level 1 time never slowed down. it sort of alternated between short cuts of the van driving and long scenes of the things happening in the lower levels. the movie only went into slow motion for level 1 when he drives off the bridge to show the difference in time that allows the guy on level 2 to do all the stuff in zero gravity for several minutes rather than several seconds.[/spoiler]

i really liked the film, though i think it would have been cool if they played with the dream world a little more than they did.

[spoiler]Saito was old in Limbo because time is arbitrary there and to sort of realize their little inside joke about dieing alone.[/spoiler]

I do agree about the lack of experimentation with dreamlike visuals in the film. Though I think Nolan didn't execute in a way reminiscent of Paprika or other older surrealist films with the intent of adding to the dream/reality confusion that persisted throughout the film.

[spoiler]I know you aren't an idiot and and didn't think time slowed down for the people that were still there but I thought that made the events of level 1 going at normal speed more effective in showcasing that what seems to be a large chunk of time is actually just a couple of seconds in reality.[/spoiler]
