Coca-Cola Co. is switching back to its time-honored red just one month after rolling out its flagship cola in a snow-white can for the holidays. New seasonal cans in red will start shipping by next week, as white cans—initially expected to be in stores through February—make an exit.

While the company has frequently rung in the holiday with special can designs, this was the first time it put regular Coke in a white can. Some consumers complained that it looked confusingly similar to Diet Coke's silver cans. Others felt that regular Coke tasted different in the white cans. Still others argued that messing with red bordered on sacrilege.

it amazes me how so many people seem to be thoroughly superficial and surface level on top of just being really stupid.

yeah, it's really hard to tell the coke can from the diet coke can, especially since they're two different colors, and one says "diet coke" while the other does not.

and the fact that any consumers would get angry over the color of their soda can, or somehow start to think that the color of a can somehow affects the taste of the beverage inside is ridiculous. these people have been brainwashed by the coca-cola company to associate different colors with different things (green with "refreshing" ala sprite, etc) and i guess it's so strong an influence that it actually makes people think things taste different when the colors of the containers are different.

and it's funny in a sad way that these people get angry about these incredibly minuscule things, instead of getting angry at the bad and shady things that coca-cola actually does. and if you look at the big picture, these people are getting angry about the packaging of a product that is horrible for them that they're willfully buying. i will never understand people.

gotta say i agree, flansburgh. corporations aren't people, but people are becoming corporations. i mean that in a very figurative way, in the sense that we're rallying over fucking coke colors and american idol contestants.
speaking of american idol, what's up with that? music shouldn't be a thing you're voted into for money, it should be an art. but since art has an abstract definition i guess making millions could be considered an art.
