Saw it with my girlfriend last night.
I liked the movie, but I still don't think Cera was the right person to play Scott Pilgrim. I don't mind the guy, I just don't really think he was a good match for the character.
I was impressed by how much they cut out of the movie and still manage to keep it cohesive. I guess most of the stuff they cut out (most notably whole characters) was just in there for extra drama in the book that wasn't really necessary for the book.

it was a really cool movie. the plot wasn't exactly generic as much as the sequence of events were (like OH I WANT THIS GIRL I NEED TO FIGHT FOR HER THEN IT ALL WORKS OUT) but i think the whole point was it being whacky quirky and stylish

You guys only like the movie because you were suckered in by flashy visuals I swear.

Ramona is nearly robotic and completely lacks any appeal in the movie. Maybe the graphic novels are better and have character and plot development that makes you appreciate the movie better, but I sort of doubt it. Dur hur she has colorful hair, this is an endearing personality trait.

No one has given me any rebuttal to the assertion that there is no plot or character development. There are fundamentals of storytelling that simply aren't fulfilled in the movie.

i always go to stylistic action/comedies expecting to see substance BOY WAS I DISAPPOINTED!!! instead of getting deep drama and social commentary i got a funny action-packed visually amazing movie!!!!! this is more disappointing than that time i went to see There Will Be Blood expecting to have a riotous good time and some good chuckles but i didnt get a single laugh out of it!!!! jeeze what is it with hollywood these days..., gosh...,.,.

I love Edgar Wright and the visual style and direction of Scott Pilgrim but as a story it was a mess. On a script level.
