If you just reduced the contrast in the tones for your textures I don't think it would be quite as in-your-face as it is now.
I mean it's a really interesting addition to your style and can definitely be pulled off providing you do it right.

Just got to keep practicing I suppose. Would take to long to go over all the assets that have been created for this film, but its definitely something ill focus on more in my next one.

Speaking of which, here are some scenes from earlier in the film I just finished adding more animation too and background tweaking.

I also drew a really bad caricature of a Triffid because I saw the original movie the other day and had fun.

in that robot sketch,the bot himself looks like he's made out of 3D shapes but his rocket looks 2D so its kinda odd looking

its just a sketch atm though i dunno what your intentions are

It is a very flat rocket, which I did notice once I had finished drawing it, unfortunately it was drawn in pen which makes fixing it difficult, ill fuck around with it in flash when I vector it.

This robot was originally posted as a pencil sketch several posts back.

These are some screen grabs from a loop I just finished animating.

And here are some screens from a commercial project that was over a minute long and I only had 3 days to go from storyboards to finished animation.

Got my parents visiting this weekend so no more pics for a while.

you know I think your backgrounds are great. But with your art I always have trouble with your characters getting lost in them. And the new ones you posted just look out of place with the black outlines. Its like they dont belong. Maybe because you have all these smooth gradients and shapes and they look a little rough and are only one color I dont know.

Maybe try using a darker color on the outlines instead on your old characters. I dont know if it will help but its the only thing I can think of. Your characters need to contrast against the background somehow

Those characters I would have liked to render the way I do most of my work but because it was a commercial project with a very short time frame I didn't get the opportunity. I really don't like leaving my original line art in my pieces, its messy and I just don't like it. I have experimented with other methods for putting an outline around my characters but because both my backgrounds and my characters are so flat visually with an outline they tend to look like they are hovering and it all looks rather weird. It also caused some weird problems because of some limitations of Flash. All I can really do is keep experimenting until I find something that works I suppose.
