well, i have a similar problem to marc's, just with my desktop pc.

it just randomly stops to work, as in, freezes. I can't move the mouse anymore, i can't turn the capslock/numpad on or off anymore (keyboard is also unresponsive) and, when i watch a movie or listen to a song while it happens, a split second of the sound keeps repeating all the time which can be really annoying. I have to restart it by turning my computer off by hand or pressing the restart button on it.

It doesn't have anything to do with heat. rtil, a while ago, suggested me to get this heat monitoring program and it didn't show anything out of the ordinary while or before that stuff happens.

It used to happen like maybe once a day, then it started to happen maybe twice a day and now it's happening like twice a week, so that kinda varies and i believe that has something to do with the weather actually.
My computer is usually turned on 24/7.

sounds like a hardware issue or conflict. normally when you have that kind of freeze where audio and video are on this split-second loop, it means the hardware has failed and is not reloading. i suspect it might be the video card. depending on your brand and model, there may be an option to enable video card rebooting when the card stops responding. if it's disabled, that might be the problem. but as far as the reason why it's freezing could be a lot of things. my computer locks up randomly if i enable anti-aliasing and i have never found out why.

yea, sounds like it's the video card to me. Did you have any issues with heat before getting that monitoring program installed? Heat could possibly have damaged it somewhere along the way. that's just speculation though.

also what do you mean by your thinking it has to do with the weather? does is happen on notably hotter days or something?

happens less in the winter, yeah

and rtil is it possible that it has something to do with my video card socket instead of the video card itself? Cause, before i got my new video card, i had an onboard video card (still do, but it's bridged and turned off now), but i had that problem before as well.

rtil

yeah it sounds more likely. you should probably get a new motherboard, and better cooling
