don't start getting all filter happy on us now. i know that all the effects photoshop can do are fascinating, but try and stick to the brushes and blending and don't rely on effects.

for a long time on DA i watched fucking sonic fancharacter faggots make poorly posed pictures of their sonic ripoffs with coloring that looked terrible and I neva really understood why they looked so bad until I found it was photoshop

a useful story

photoshop is good but it can be a shit

hey guys, i don't know why everyone is starting to see the "IPB Image" thing
but until i fix it remember that you can upload your images to this board, thus removing the problem altogether. don't be afraid to upload your images here, that's why i enabled the feature.

some advice:
1. instead of dropping a gradient over the entire coloring job, do shading on the individual parts of it, the hair the face, etc. if you'd like to use gradients, select those solid tones of color with your custom selection tool or magic wand, then use the gradients.

2. if you're going to use a texture, don't drop it just on the background and not the character. since the character is very simple and the background is really detailed, they don't belong together. i'd suggest trying different layer tools to see what the character would look like with the same texture as well. otherwise drop the textured background, unless you want people to spend more time looking at that instead of the character you drew.

drew this and colored it with colored pencil on the 2 hour plane ride back from flordia, then tried to fix it up in photoshop, but kinda failed...

It's a picture of a character I randomly drew named Spencer. I drew another picture of him skateboarding, but I don't think it's that great.

some of your outlines are way too thick, especially on the hair. try to not rely so heavily on your linework for figure.
