I have the bad habit of doing too much work on a single scene, wich causes my computer to slow down both while im making a cartoon, or when im trying to play the movie (swf). There are times where I just want to see how a small bit of my movie looks but I dont want to wait until all the rest of the movie plays before I can actually see what Im trying to focus on.

Is there a way to just render in swf a specific number of frames? or specifically certain frames in the timeline?

rtil

no. only way i can think of doing something close to that is copying the frames you want to see and pasting them in a new fla.

I just put on the preloader screen, a crude button that "goes to and plays" the frame number of the part I want to watch again and again. Then just right click rewind and push it again. It normally will not slow down and you can see what that chunk would look like at the correct speed.

th@s cool and all but the method rtil described is much simpler and more efficient

if you work off the main timeline in graphics or movieclips, you can preview them individually by "test scene". the catch is that it off-centers playback in the window, so you have to manually expand it to see what you just made. this can be a little frustrating if you cut off animation on the edges of the stage because it will look weird. also it'll save versions of the graphic/mc's swf in whatever save-to folder you last used. i don't think it can be disabled. also audio on the main timeline won't play. just whatever's in the graphic/mc.

but it is a quick way to see what you made
