Cintiq or Intuos 4

I've devised a list of pros and cons for getting an intuos and selling my cintiq.

For Cintiq:
1. It's a lot like paper for me, which is really comfortable
2. Semi-portable - screen fits in a laptob bag
3. No getting used to a coordination issue
4. No trouble of selling/repackaging or buying the intuos

For Intuos:
1. No calibration issues on the outer edges OR trouble recalibrating it to work normally
2. No color differences
3. Getting a profit (cost of intuos: $410, selling of cintiq: ~650-900) to help my semi-worrisome funds
4. Easier set up of tablet / less workspace crowding (not a big deal)
5. Twice the points of pressure (I don't really mind this but its there)
6. Bigger drawing/viewing area (3 more inches diagonally, but the point is to have the viewing canvas be my 17 inch monitor, which can really help putting in meticulous detail)

Right now I can't decide, because I have a pretty sufficient piece of hardware, but Intuos seems like a better deal. What would you guys do?

Personally, while I think a cintiq would be awesome, I think you're better off saving up for the BIG cintiq (rtil has a smaller cintiq so maybe he'd be able to say something about that) and getting an intuos 4 in the meantime. Also, the cintiq small isn't that portable; you need to hook up a video cable + usb cable, and the unit itself is going to weigh a lot more than just an intuos + the usb hookup. I'm not sure I'd want to be toting around an expensive cintiq either, in case I drop the bag/it gets soaked in the rain.

I've also heard that the intuos has a bit of a lag time between when you draw and when it appears on the screen.

The intuos touch wheel + flash is awesome. You can easily shuttle frames for reviewing your work. Also, the drawing surface has a special coating on it to make it feel like you're drawing on paper (rather than some icky plastic).

Another thing to consider when using a cintiq (or any drawing screen, for that matter) is that you can't see past your hand, so some part of your screen is always going to be obscured. Also, you're going to find a comfortable drawing position for that thing (can you hold your arm above your desk comfortably for a long time?)

better off saving up for the BIG cintiq

i don't like cintiqs, especially the 12WX and i've explained why many times. but i understand some people need to look at what they're drawing although i find the intuos more advantageous in all circumstances

Thanks for the consideration help thor. I think I'l get an intuos. I'm wondering how to even sell a cintiq on ebay in the first place though.

Yeah the portability thing isn't a good real valid pro for cintiq.
The lag thing might just be the computer's performance too.
