Man im gonna be a total n00b here, but what exactly is TF2?
Like yeah i know it's a game obviously, but there seems to be so much hype in this thread it got me interested.

i played a 2nd time it seemed like there were less random idiots on there. i like the game but i can't afford it, although i probably won't buy it when i do have the money. i like engineer, pyro, heavy, sniper and medic. some concepts i don't understand:
1. medic ubercharge - what does it do
2. how do you earn other weapons and does it give you an advantage over other players
3. how do you hit baseballs at people with the scout

1.The Ubercharge gives you invincibility when you right click (secondary attack)
2. You earn weapons by playing and earning achievements n stuff, and I don't think it really gives you an advantage if the opposition knows what they're doing.
The weapons are more for what type of player you are. Some of them have small tweaks, sacrificing some traits for others.
3.With the baseball thing, it's a type of weapon you have to unlock. I don't have it either.

1: Makes you invulnerable for a short time.
2: They're random Drops now. They used to be obtained by getting achievements, but people were cheating, so valve changed it. And Yes they do if used correctly.
3: You use The Sandman; A weapon that the Scout can get.

1. There are 2 weapons the medic has for his gun, a regular medigun or the kritzkreig. After a certain while the medigun will heal and when it reaches 100% depending on what weapon you have, it will either give you invulnerablity for about 10 seconds or the kritz will give you critical damage to whoever the medic is healing
2. It depends. You either get the other weapons by doing the achievments and after a certain amount you will get "milestones" which will give you a weapon depending on the class you got it for. Now, the more time you play sometimes random drops will come which could possibly be a weapon you already have which you could use for a new thing called crafting although I havent used it yet. As for the weapons it depends on what you really like, the weapons are done so they could balence out the game. If you were a sniper for example you could use either replace your weak machine gun with a jar of piss that you throw to make the other player deal alot more crticial damage.
3.You need the sandman for the scout which is one of the first unlocks you get after doing a certain amount of achievments or just randomly picking it up

is the kritzkreig the thing that shoots the beam and heals people? and for the other stuff i guess my concern is that this is one of these games that you have to play all the time to get the good stuff and stay competitive

1. Both are mediguns (the shooting blue beam stuff). The default medigun charges your uber at a normal rate, and the gives off an uber at 100% (when right clicked), which is a short period of invulerability. The krtiz charges twice as fast, but instead of an invulnerability, it gives off 100% critical hits to those being healed for a short time.

2. Drops and achievements. They're a mixed bag. A lot of default weapons are actually better at times.

3. When you unlock the sandman and have it equipped, right click.

The kritzkreigs is a beam that does a significant amount of damage but keeps whoeever you are healing still in danger if you arent healing him. Example would be that even though he is doing a HUGE amount of critical damage the heavy could still be sniped. Now the other regular medigun give invulnerablity which makes the heavy unable to take any damage for about 10 seconds, but wont be able to do as much crtical damage. I prefer the medigun to the kritz

Oh the replacement for that gun is called The Blutsaugher. It cannot score critical hits, but will drain life from your enemies and give it to the Medic. So if you are dying, you could shoot at enemys with it and gain some health out of it. It's good.
