this is true, and would save me (and you guys) a lot of time with editing and notability issues. i think pages dedicated to specific animations should only be for series, real feature films or obviously timeless classics such as Chuck Jones' "What's Opera, Doc?"

i will remove the 'flash animation' template and infobox tonight, as well as that from the focus page. that gives us 5 things to focus on  instead of 6. a load off our backs i suppose.

anigentleman

defenitely. there are countless webcartoon to include, the majority of which aren't even well animated, so we'd be making articles about thousands of lame things

we would be so uninspired

rtil

well, the point was not to document every single solitary cartoon, only the 'notable' ones. but now we don't have to worry about that.

anigentleman

yeah but notability in internet cartoons is suggestive

some people consider legendaryfrog's shit to be really notable and important

so its good that its changed

Sorry about my low activity. >_> The reason I haven't made a post since around the time I joined is because I'm on quite a bit of forums and I've been playing video games a lot lately.

Quote from: rtilIf someone wants to make an article about Alvin, fine. But the last thing I want is a diehard fan writing it. i want non-biased articles, and i only want straight facts. if it got praise, note its criticisms. most people make alvin out to be a god.
I actually wouldn't care if a die hard fan made a page for him as long as it isn't biased. Too bad it probably isn't possible for one of his hardcore fans to make it nonbiased. :/

This news is disappointing to hear. The main reason I joined is to make wiki entries about flash animations. :/

rtil

i'm still an open book on it, but for now i'm going to say no on that. can't you make any pages about actual cartoon productions like the aforementioned chuck jones short?

I didn't even knew about the Chuck Norris short's existance until you mentioned it earlier.

rtil

did you just say chuck norris
lmao
uhhh well i'm guessing you don't know much about the history of animation, then

either way, i agree that information about an animation can fit into the article about the animator. you can write about flash series, however.

I misread your post badly. In all honesty, I don't know a lot about the history of animation but I do know about Chuck Jones, just not very much.

Edit-

I assume a wiki entry for Newgrounds Rumble is currently not acceptable, correct?

anigentleman

It's not really an animation, it's a game. I don't know if that would fit in anipedia as an article under any circumstances, but im pretty sure it wouldn't be under this one.

only rtil can tell

at this point i don't actually have a flash game template. that's an interesting situation. do they plan on making a sequel? i believe they do. just as with flash series, i think flash games that have been through iterations or sequels can have their own pages. i'll work that up on monday.

trent bortknob

im gonna make a page about me

For some unknown reason, their plan to make a sequel is now unlikely. Quite a shame too since a sequel would have had a lot of potential.

A few things.

Embedding Flash content. I'm under the impression that this isn't implemented yet, but I may be mistaken. Is it possible? It seems like a fairly important thing to have. More for demonstration (instead of animated .gifs) than posting whole movies.

Someone brought up games and I'm wondering what the stance is on them here. I wouldn't mind putting up some pages on game design theory, the importance of clear feedback and reward and shit, stuff thats not immediately obvious.

And kinda along those lines I would personaly like to see something more theory based as a focus point along the line somewhere. Stuff like colour theory and composition and such, just because again it's stuff thats not immediately obvious and it's not just 'this is how you motion tween' tutorial stuff.

rtil

things like color theory will be tackled in the animation > elements of animation category, as well as others i plan to expand on, such as art in general (since color theory is more often grouped with this).  so, it will most likely fall under a category like background design. now, as far as tutorials go, we will not be covering only simple things like 'how to motion tween'. i'd like to cover all 12 aspects of the 'elements' of animation as well as tips and troubleshooting for common flash problems that many people end up giving up on and abandoning projects because of them. i'd also like to touch on extensions as well as how to use them, and optimizing flash for everything its' worth.

i don't know a whole lot about games, so i will leave that up to people like you. write what you wish, and when we get to it it will be very useful in building foundations for format on the subject.

but right now, we have about 65 articles with legitimate content. i'd like to stick to the basics if that is possible. things like the rule of thirds, camera placement and composition are more or less 'advanced' ideas, and while they are important, it is not the immediate focus of anipedia.

Nope, Luis told me that due to bad blood between Mindchamber and NegativeONE, a sequel to the original is not likely to happen.

That's the reason why a sequel is now unlikely? That's a shame.
