the actual assignment was to board a section of the script for the valentine's episode of the offbeats, everyone in the class was given a different part to board out, they said we can use stick figures but that's not any fun

The class is basically just like animation minus the art, although the art's allowed. Not really required, though. It's more on production methods. Only the teacher usually ends up talking about something completely unrelated, and it's a 4 hour class. I'm not complaining 'cause it's just community college. Easy elective credits.

I personally don't mind scripts, as long as they're not seen as a set of rules. I just see them as kinda pointless 'cause once you draw something you'll want to do it differently than if you're writing it in words. If artists have to follow scripts strictly then that's retarded.

This isn't the entire script I was given, but here's the parts that I drew out so far: (I'll scan in the actual one later)

ACT ONE, SEQUENCE A

WE FACE UP ON TOMMY WALKING & HUMMING TO HIMSELF. HE IS APPROACHED BY THE POPULARS.

TINA: Well, if it isn't Tommy-Wommy.

TOMMY: What do you want, Tina?

Tina: (FACKE SUPER-SWEET) We want to give you a Valentine's~

TINA PULLS OUT A CARD.

TOMMY: Why would you do that?

TINA: (MEAN) Just read it, hat-boy!

TOMMY TAKES THE CARDS & READS.

TOMMY: "Roses are red. Violets are Blue. Turtles are stupid. And so are you."

POPULARS: HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!

TOMMY: (DRY) Very Funny.

TINA: (PROUD) I wrote it myself.

THE POPULARS START TO EXIT.

TINA:  (CON'T, TO BETH) Destroy the evidence, Beth.

BETH: Yes, Tina.

THEY EXIT. BETH RE-ENTERS WITH A PORTABLE SHREDDER ON WHE---

I tried to make it easy to animate. The actual show's setup is retarded. It has scenes with like 8 characters on screen doing nothing interesting or relevant. I think it's better to have 1 good looking character than 10 shitty ones. The designs from the show are just kinda boring. I felt like I was drawing cyanide and happiness.

Then we were supposed to make planes flying (plane images were provided) just to show how motion tweens can be used, but I didn't like the planes.

We need to make a ball bounce with realistic physics, so I need to start over on this one. But I found my ball by googling "Fat Marip", so he stays.
