in the aeroplane over the sea is one of the most discussed, influential albums of the 90s, the fact that you're clearly ASTOUNDED that i would even say such a thing makes me doubtful of your knowledge on this subject. part of the reason i love jeff mangums voice is because it's the sound of an average man singing, not some mastered, completely tuned voice. have you not heard of folk music?

i guess i have to go with you on this one. maybe i was biased against ITAOTS because there was so much fuckin hype around it and what i got was a fairly generic indie-folk album with some nice horn segments thrown in here and there. i did enjoy the album but i've never found anything in it to be very outstanding. call me tone deaf but i really like dylan's voice as well as tom waits' (who many critics say cannot sing either). mangum's just tends to grate me, personal preference i guess. i think it was the whole I LOVE YOU JESUS CHRIIIIIIST that did it for me lmao

i dont understand that at all

bob dylan has one of the worst voices i've ever heard

jeff mangum has a great voice, and not just because he's "average", i really do think he's a very talented singer

I found it deep even though its comical which makes me enjoy it all the more.

Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence is beautiful, first time i head it I got goose bumps. Watching a live performance of Ryuichi Sakamoto made me realise how much effort he puts into his work.

Listened to this over and over

made me learn to love Cash as my dad played it over and over in car trips.

Like a rolling stone and desolation row are fantastic, but the harmonica just hurts my ears.

Got me into rap music, from here I discovered not all rap is just about 'raping your bitch because she is a whore' and found that it does sometimes if you look hard enough have better content.

made me discover punk rock and that I love the genre.

This made me find out not all electronic music was like daft punk or doof doof shit. And showed me that I can enjoy the beauty of this kind of music.

I have so many more to share.
