Ok, so about a couple of months ago, a guy i knew needed someone to record a song for his audio project for school. I willingly accepted his offer due to the fact that'd I'd be recording it with an actual grand piano and a cardiod condenser microphone along with a pop shield like this



anyway, after three days of recording (he kept messing up the placement of the mics -_-), he let me keep a copy of the recording. So I popped it into my computer and listened to it. Much to my disappointment, the vocals were horrible. It's very hard to concentrate on how I was sounding when I didn't want to mess up the notes (even though it was the same thing over and over again... shut up).

So today I tried the best I could to remove the original vocals and record the way I would have.

Here are both the tracks. The song is called 9 Crimes by Damien Rice (good artist, btw)

The one called cover is the original, revised is the one I did today (but you probably figured that out)

i could hear a few pff noises here and there, i thought you had a pop filter to use?

sometimes your voice was a bit flat, pitch was a bit off

but i spose it was "alright"

sounds like the guy didnt nothing to enhance the vocals at all. could of done with some light reverb, subtle delay, a bit of eq'ing and a slight bit of auto-tune (without the wierd robotish effect). it's amazing how much little things can improve vocal recordings.

i only got to use the pop screen for the recording with the guy, not the one I redone (though one would have been nice)

anywa dilly, though you appear to have "talent" and i guess you're a lot better at singing than i am, i have to honestly say that i dont really like your voice at all

im pretty biased though so dont worry about it, its probably just me

i only like chick singers with unique voices like bjork and that girl from great gig in the sky
