useful firefox tweaks

This page has a bunch of little tweaks you can do to your firefox to make it run faster.

it includes reducing the amount of RAM firefox uses for cache, increasing the speed at which ff loads pages, and reducing the amount of RAM ff uses when its minimized. It supposedly works best for people who have old computers with 1GB of RAM or less. I tried them all out and my firefox was definitely noticeably faster, even when i had a shitload of tabs open. I tried watching flashes/videos, streaming live videos, and doing other various tasks and had no issues- even with skype, firefox, photoshop, and flash running all at the same time. but idk i guess it really depends on the kind of computer you have

anyway at the bottom of the page in the comments, one of the users leaves a long comment explaining the possible negative consequences and tradeoffs of doing these tweaks, so make sure to read that before you do this

i remember there was an add-on called fasterfox which did those for you but i don't know if it's compatible with the latest FF version

i set my pipelining to 10. it was at 4 originally. i don't think you're supposed to set it much higher than that
