buying a posable wooden doll and a weeks worth or hard studying was all I really needed in terms of keeping proper proportions and etc

finer details like how shoulder blades stick out and the bridge of your nose can only come from studying real people.

i have at my school, but i only managed to get that book for about 2 weeks, and it had so much stuff in it. i forgot what it was called, but it pretty much showed step by step learning, starting from the head, neck, shoulders, etc.

You could also buy a book on anatomy at, say, Barnes & Nobles. The only problem is that they're bound to be expensive. Those wooden dolls dvv mentioned can be helpful as well. For skeletal structure, at least. You'll definitely need to study anatomy to draw muscles and stuff.

i never liked those pose dolls, tbh i dont' think they look much like humans at all. they don't even have necks

the best thing you could ever do for yourself is go to life drawing. if there are any local galleries, you should go there and ask if they do them. normally it wouldn't cost more than $5 for 3 hours of poses. i wouldn't trade anything for all the practice i got in those

i used the doll for bone  and sketching from the inside out, and recently I've been doing pen shit to work from the outside in and keep proper structure etc

nah i found an amazing one for only $10

i learned basic anatomy by reading a lot of magazines and looking at the ads with the models. buy a fashion magazine or something that way you can see models in weird poses and learn to draw clothing at the same time

http://www.amazon.com/Human-Anatomy-Artist...3259&sr=8-4 is a great book, but it is expensive

mine does have a neck, actually

i will probably get a lot of "you're gay"'s for this one, but a while ago rubberninja posted links to really nice anatomy tutorials on deviantart somewhere. So I'd say try to check out that place as well.

Naked, wearing a lot of makeup. But not so much as to make yourself look like a whore.

One book I bought was Human Anatomy Made Amazingly Easy for inside muscle references.

But Andrew Loomis is the only site I'll hear you could use. I haven't used it myself. I haven't looked at it, but a friend told me about it. I think I'll check it out myself:

It is a whole site of Andrew Loomis's books on Anatomy and Illustration. They are the rarest out of print 'how to draw' books to date.

Once Again:

HERE Is Andrew Loomis

i forgot about loomis. his stuff is great, and the scans are all online now because those books are out of print for some reason
