Oh Hello

Man walking down street, coat on back, sweat on forehead. The sun sets. The streets cool down from the dry, hot summer day. Faint noises of cars carrying  people home; home to their loved ones, to food waiting for them in the freezer, to computers waiting to be used. Home. This man sat on the curb next to the streetlight, watching as the clouds blackened against the dark orange sky. The streetlights flicker on - tiny glints of yellow flashing mid air in small dirty spheres. As I pass the diminishing rows of lights, the man sighs relief and turns his head to me, "I am home."
