making the cintiq 12wx suck less

You would probably get the same effect if you placed the cintiq in front of your desktop monitor.  It acts less like a cintiq and more like an intuos with a control panel in the center of it.  This saves you screen real estate on your monitor you are using as a canvas and allows you to draw in full screen mode without losing access to your desktop or the tools in what ever application you are using.  If you don't mind the cintiq, or have one of the higher end models you can pretty much do the inverse and put all of your desktop items on your monitor and use full screen mode on the cintiq to free up a lot of space on the low resolution screen.  Of course there is still compromise compared to an actual intuos like still having a bunch of annoying wires and jitter around the edges but this setup for me helps me overlook its flaws at least.
