lately i've been loving the work of Brianne Drouhard http://briannedrouhard.com/
apparantly she's working on a cartoon for CN coming out next month! i'm really excited.

some of my others are chuck jones and the fleischer brothers.

i used to have this link to an anime artist who worked mainly in graphite and digital that was an insanely amazing drafstman who had an incredible sense of form and color, but firefox deletes my bookmarks a lot and i have lost him a long time ago. he typically does children in large environments such as rooms with tons of little gadgets or huge forests. if anyone knows who i'm talking about it'd be greatly appreciated if you could redirect me to his site.

Everyone always bashes Jim Lee but I think his stuff is great

Also, Bruce Timm has a great style that translates well into animation

Yeah and as you said rtil, Chuck Jones is legend (although his run with Tom & Jerry wasn't too hot)

In terms of modern artists, there are so many today using so many different styles I like it's impossible to pick a favorite.  Probably my closest favorite, and not by much, would be David Mann, the talented painter who did all the art and centerfolds for Easyrider Magazine.

I like the (REALLY) old school artists too.  My favorites are Michelangelo and Leonardo; the former had mad skills with a brush and the latter was a genius far too ahead of his time.

what is he bashed for?

I honestly have no idea. People probably got it into their heads he's over-rated cause he's acclaimed for his art in Uncanny X-Men and the Batman 'Hush' storyline

Well I'm in love with Jamie Hewletts Gorillaz artwork. Also I enjoy reading John K's blog about animation and stuff. Ja.

Jesus Christ doesn't draw. He preaches about unreal things--[OMG RELIGION BASHER BAN].

Anyways, I like Ry's stuff of course, and some other guy that's been pretty popular lately who's called "TimFrommeyer".

For a timeline of artists that have made an impression on me, it goes like...

Joe Madureira (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Madureira)

Masamune Shirow  (but I don't get much inspiration from him anymore with the exception of some of his finer works)

Ukitakumuki (http://ukitakumuki.deviantart.com/  I'd have to say he's been one of the best inspirations at DA)

There are others, but they're the three main contenders of exceptional note to me.

i never show my realism stuff because i think it bores the internet crowd to death. perhaps i'll put up my realism stuff on my website. i need to scan it all. for the time being you can check out my sketches i did while in italy, they're somewhere in my sheezy/deviant gallery. you'll see an italian flag sideways as the preview image.

Quote from: athingI really like john K's stuff (mainly ren and stimpy, but I've seen other stuff by him)
he's also very knowledgable and appreciative of the world of animation. i really respect him.

and ren and stimpy is drop dead hilarious. (rubber nipple salesman is an instant classic)

I'd say I'm partial to the Dog Show episode, and the ones where Haggis McHaggis is involved.  Oh yeah, and the cowboy one. =P

Ja. His blog is like... my favourite place on the internet, haha. At least when I'm in my animating mood. All the stuff he says there really makes me think about things I never really noticed in animations before. Also he's freakin awesome for teaching so many things. I really need to give those animation lessons a try sometime.
