Quote from: rtili refuse to watch any of them. i mean if i wanted to watch ripoffs of already bad reality shows i'd watch the originals

who wants to see a bunch of 11 year olds whine about camping or being scared of the dark

lmfao i tried watching "survive this" and this was exactly what it was ^

texas

i turned on my tv and it was on cartoon network and there was some show where a black guy was feeding this kid a sandwich that was gross or something but the guy kept making the kid eat it and it was next to a rollercoaster
so i changed the channel

billy

Quote from: Billyi don't think there is anything i can say to properly emphasize how fucking stupid this is.
my mind pretty much refuses to believe that cn real actually exists and i'm just never going to watch it and one day it won't exist because i don't know anyone who isn't a retarded CEO who thinks this is a good idea or even a neutral idea. this is the worst idea since sewer levels in video games.

ZekeySpaceyLizard

its getting HORRIBLE FUCKING RATINGS GUYS

dont turn it on even out of curiosity

let it die a most deserved death

texas

how do they like tell the exact number of people who turn it on
and if my tv moniter is off but my satellite is still on and playing cartoon network, do they count that as me watching it
arent the ratings just like estimates

f0d

ahahahaha oh my god

this is what happens when network executives are horrifically out of touch with their audience

i can just see them desperately conjuring this idea in a board room meeting. "hey guys the economy sucks and cartoons are old news. there are all these new reality shows on bravo, E, A&E, discovery, truTV, MTV and VH1 that are getting HUGE ratings! its a cash cow! lets do the same thing to our network and make it appeal to teenagers! sure to be a smash hit!"

unbelievable for a channel that appeals almost exclusively to kids and cynical nerdy 18-24 yr old males to switch to a format that both these demographics would absolutely fucking HATE. did they not do any research?

also those logos made me shudder. i want to know what theyre paying that designer. i could make a better fucking logo in my sleep
I have more of a life writing this review at 1145 pm than you guys do making these movies. . .

arent the ratings just like estimates

from what i know it doesn't really tell them how many people watched it
there are a lot of people who agreed to their tv and receiver being monitored (what they watch) and with that they get the % of people that watch the channel

might be bullshit tho cause some guy at school told me that

whoareyou

Get me an Uzi.

I'm going to Atlanta.

Quote"Cartoon is also relying on decidedly old-school technology in an attempt to lure viewers to the new lineup: a fanzine. The network is printing eight million copies of the fanzine, which will blend pop culture tips with promotional messaging related to the new shows. The publication will be distributed at movie theaters, Six Flags amusement parks, the Essence Music Festival, Cartoon Network live tours and other events."

fuck its spreading

My friends niece was watching a show on it so I'm like, "well if this kid is already watching it I might as well view it to see just how bad this is."

The show was that one survival show called Survive This! Which was a bunch of kids who didn't seem to know a thing about the atrocities of the real world trying to survive in a forest in the midwest united states. They walked up to their first challenge, which was: *drumroll* an overturned bus. No, they didn't watch a bus overturn, they simply walked up to a bus that was on it's side and fashioned to look like it was in a mild crash. One of the snots said, "This is like the most intense thing that's ever happened to me." Nothing has actually happened TO this kid, they simply SAW a bus that was on it's side. The actual challenge involved them trying to forage for useful items from the bus in a set amount of time. The show dragged on with a bunch of pussy-hurt kids whining and I look away for a second and look back. You know that corkscrew on a pocketknife? That one that you'd only flip out if you needed to uncork a whine bottle? A girl had that stabbed into her lip. HOW THE FUCK DOES THAT HAPPEN? WHAT WAS SHE DOING? So they have a paramedic come and pull it out because she's too much of a wuss to do it herself and she talks about how traumatic the experience was.

I asked the little girl who I was watching this with if she'd rather play Mario or something than watch this and she agreed quickly.

texas

lmao this actually sounds kind of funny
now i want to watch it

Ooh wow, I can answer this one!  Yeah, for television, there is no exact way of telling how many people are watching, they have to use estimates. Psi, you're mostly right, for the US, it's the Neilsen Rating System, my family participated in it for a while. What they do is send every family member a booklet they fill out throughout the week and at the end of the week, we mail it. Based on demographics and all that shit, they get the Ratings Share numbers which are directly related to the number of families who sent in booklets. After that, I don't know what number crunching they do to figure out the amount of people watching, they probably just look at viewership trends and stuff and guess. It's all about the shares!

This means that if you accidentally flip the channel to that shit, it won't count because you're not writing down "Accidentally flipped on Cartoon Network between 8:35:45 and 8:35:47" and mailing it out... But don't watch it anyway, it's just awful.

not really.. ratings can be deal-breakers for tv shows and most of this stuff is now done electronically with set meters in cable boxes, meaning that ratings actually are calculated with real data. that's why the information is usually readily available for press
