Not sure if Microsoft is mimicking Apple or not, but yes there are irritating things about gadgets.

The sidebar is annoying (something that is being cut in Windows 7 ) and the CPU Meter gadget takes resources that are needed for resource intensive things (I have to close the sidebar before I start a game).

Hopefully, all these things will be worked out.

windows 7 gets rid of the sidebar in favor of much more practical 'pretty' features

if you read the windows 7 wiki the new features sound pretty great not to mention actually useful

You're a lucky man. Vista crashes on me all the time. And I couldn't even install the Beta. It would blue screen as soon as it tried to start up after updating.

I think it ships either at the end of the year or early next year. I'd like to know how much an upgrade costs.
