me personally, i always thought it was a waste of money because i dont make any cash out of my tracks and fl+reason has been good to me for ages, but i was wondering, was there ever a point that u consedired buying one of these babies?

I actually have an old MPC that my dad handed down to my many a year ago
When I move into my apartment after I graduate, that thing's comin' with
The one you posted is really modern/expensive looking but I can tell it can make great stuff
I've watched some videos of people using them, the latest being Madeon mixing pretty much 40 songs

I felt like quitting music then and there, but it's one of those constant reminders that I can't just sit there and do nothing because there are always folks like Madeon and Pogo out there being better than me

As far as news goes I've pretty much been on standby for all current projects, waiting for people to do their part so I can do mine, which is probably good 'cause I can focus on school and work
I've made more mashups that I will post soon along with maybe some original stuff

imo madeon isn't that great, all of his popular stuff is sample overkill. some of the songs he samples have samples in them as well. he's the inception of sampling. it's annoying

im pretty sure that is an mpc aswell but i might be wrong cuz it could some of that super new tools where u dont even have to do anything to make something cool, if it is an mpc then its a weird lookin one

do you still make stuff with the mpc (i got a feeling its a small 1000 for some reason)

and honestly i dont know why you would feel like quiting or feel like you suck at it because there other dudes out there that are better than you, i personally feel inspired by that cause it makes me wanna go get better with it and just stay up to par or whatever but at the same time i do understand that ur thinking that you need to come a long way before u can get at the level of an artist u admire

Why start with original work when you can incept your way into popularity I guess

Blordow I would indeed consider that an instrument if an mpc or keyboard is considered one.
Basically each button represents a sample that can be modified as needed by the user like a more convenient way of sampling
I think the video's off by a few but it could very well be him button mash synching
I think it's real 'cause I think it's would be awesome to do as well as possible
I don't think he has a reason to lie about it but either way, mixing 40 tracks well still takes some skill imo

wasim I never really did make much with the mpc at all
Basically what I did is listen to an already made loop, and add and take stuff away from it, then quit 'cause I didn't know what I was doing lol
I know it's a really powerful tool when used correctly but my interests and that giant manual for it were not encouraging further use
Also I was just kidding about quitting, but it does clear the table on stuff I did that I thought was good
Everything else you said pretty much applies to me accurately

Yes Hnil, the betta fish, and those are indeed Scott Pilgrim samples
I'm always open to suggestions, but Homestuck stuff is the type that I'm gonna have to actually make work from scratch 'cause a lot of it doesn't work well with others by itself.
I'll probably wait for all the hype to die down from it before I even think about using it to be honest
Unlike all of Renard's stuff which works naturally with many different things

Aside from the last one, I was really trying to keep myself alive while waiting for folks to make some progress on their projects so I could have something to show for the summer besides a bunch of bad grades but it doesn't look like anything's happening

If you've ever visited one of my livestreams, every once in a while I'll open up some program and start mixing songs
This is because I may end up doing gigs at clubs in the future if I get the right equipment and become skilled at it so having a few 10-30 minute mixes of songs are definitely a good idea [not completely a product of my boredom]

I'm tired of sitting on my bum keeping time available waiting for people to actually do things so I'm going to start working on things that I can as soon as the last of academics are out of the way soon

I think I have been slacking a bit in the music department as a result of loss of motivation
I've been asked to work on two different albums and I'm going to attempt to be in livestreams more often
I want to try to work on all the incomplete thoughts that I pretty much stopped on as soon as I got to a checkpoint and have let snowball since 2008
I found myself skimming through the same things for the past few years, saying I'm gonna do something about it, but not, so I'm gonna really try to fix it this time
In the meantime here is me messing around above

the first 2 are definatly choppy and a bit messy but that whole style fits well in the 1st track, 2nd one not so much
first song is on some large professor/pete rock type of shit,. simple sample chopping and a nice drum break. what more do you need

2nd track i dont consider dope/nice/swell but not that bad either, i know what type of direction you were heading with it. i like some of the horn samples you sliced. but other than that i cantgive you much feedback

also i understand your problem where you are planning to make something but then end up not doing it, i think the problem is that its best to make that track or that something today or right at that moment. fuck tomorrow, cuz tomorrow would mean never. the more you delay your shit to tomorrow, then the next tomorrow would mean next week, then that would mean next month and etc. what you gotta do is just go make those things that people asked you to do right now or later today

I'm positive it would sound better if I had taken it into FL Studio but I really was just messing around
I really did just slap a generic repetitive beat and freestyled on a sample

Most of the personal stuff I stopped working on was because I had put them aside in favor of working with other people
Since 2008, only about 10% of that stuff has actually seen the light of day lol
