I know you have heard this many times but...I just dont understand why cant rtil and the swain get along. they are both exceptional artists and kick ass in their own way.

I think the swain is a great artist (hes better as a cartoonist than an animator but still) and he has improved a lot in his works with time.
he doesnt act like he is self-centered or obsessed with his cartoons either.

Some of the blockhead cartoons he has done are better than stuff Ive seen on tv...And I dont even like blockhead THAT much.

His pm was kinda lame (specially at the end), but I understand why did he respond like that.
I mean....put yourself in the man´s shoes.
Imagine how discouraging it must be to constantly try to improve on your cartoons and always get negative criticism from rtil for like 3 years in a row. We all have very fragile egos as humans no matter how big or small that ego is.

Ahh but what I feel has happened is an artificial cushion has been formed, a sheild really.  The masses of fanboys, decisions of admins, and judgement of review moderators has swirled to protect and promote masses of fanboys.  It has also worked to destroy critical thinking.  Why bother putting thought into a review when it will be deleted on sight?  Why bother trying to help when people will hate you for it?  Why bother trying something new when it will most likely go unnoticed?

Its a process that's snowballed to form situations like this, where someone who's been thoroughly ostracized and insulted is deflating the ego of someone who is lauded as a godsend.  Of course a fully rational person would brush off rtil's witticisms, yet Swain has been conditioned such that he could not expect such a review.

What I'm saying is its not just the scores that have become fucked up, its the way people view the purpose of sharing flashes, and the purpose of making them.

So in summary everyone on NG needs to grow up and pull their heads out of their respective asses

I dont know dave...Well....I think a low review with a reasonable argument and good, friendly criticism is a million times better and more appreciated by the artist that made the flash cartoon than a 10 review that says somehting in the vein of ZOMG BLOCKHD  HERE IT GOS TONGS 10.

I dont think rtil cares about the insults or opinions of the fanboys (of other artists) about him. He has his own fanbase and place in Ng as much as swain and others and I dont think he holds some kind of grudge at anyone just because they have a more rabid fanbase than him.

Sir I find your work lacks substance. The ambivalence of the coloration and the unkempt contours form an image that is not only plebeian but also ostentatious. The independent matters lack form and the laughable substance seems pretentious and perhaps too lowbrow for the highbrow bar that one has set for oneself. Thine pieces of art just don't SELL THEMSELVES to my persons with the kind of endowment that a intellectual critic such as myself expects from such a piece. Improvement is needed. F--
