I don't know why but I always love seeing traditional animation. Has some kind of neat feel to it.

Very nice work, it's pretty constant.

That was nice, like the brain coming out at the end! How long did it take to do that?
<@salutations> i just ate 5 guys for the first time
<@salutations> my heart kinda hurts
<Ry99an> you mean

<@Ashington> also only ops and vocaloids can grab my many boners

a month or so, but i was working on it like two days per week

it was fun but the hair and mouth were a BITCH to redraw. i shouldnt have made them so dark and filled in with graphite... i had to use up like 10 pencils for each second of animation

Flash

Great stuff.
I left a simirlaly empty, but at least positive, comment at CN

rtil

what was the point of re-drawing all those lines of hair when the character hardly even moved
it was interesting, but you could have done so much more with it, and probably saved yourself a lot of time (and pencils) by simplifying elements of the character that pretty much stayed in the same place the entire time

f0d

yeah i know the only reason i made the hair like that was because since it was such a short class i had no character sketches and just went from my first drawing, which, like 25 drawings in, i realized wasn't a good idea since i had made the hair and mouth too complex. but at that point there was no going back.

looking back on it i'd probably make his face MUCH more elastic if i animated it knowing what i know now

that's really cool, i love seeing animation with actual drawings on paper as opposed to drawings made in flash. i can't even imagine how much time it must have taken you to redraw such a detailed character over and over. i don't think i would ever have the patience to undertake such an ambitious endeavor. but it came out really good. yeah the hair and mouth must have been a bitch, but it came out amazing =D

Kirbopher

I like it, reminds me of "Your Face" by Bill Plympton a little. The brain coming out at the end was done pretty well and the little detail of his other eye bugging out from that was a nice touch.

they still have one of the drawings he made up in the animation lab, its a sketch of bambi vs. godzilla

Muchos-good-os!

Even if took you longer to draw out every element over and over again, I thought you were very consistent in your line work

ya but anyone could do that if they were using the same animation desks used to make snow white like i was

i think my style is a bit too static and stiff in general. maybe its because im lazy. i use a lot of holds

Thor

lol you have an animation desk from Disney? Pix plz!

I think it's more of a stylistic choice than anything else, as far as "static and stiff" goes. Personally, I prefer to get the whole mass into anything I move (so opening the mouth has a slight effect on the eyebrows, punching through the ear will cause the entire body to sway, etc.) but that tends towards the more "believable" end of the spectrum, which isn't necessary for ALL cartoons to have.

Also, Pat Smith uses a lot of holds too (they're not evil if they're timed well, imo)

no they have them at school, they were used by the nine old men to make all of the films from the classical era of disney. then they were handed down to UCLA and have been used by students there for like 30+ yrs

you should see them theyre COVERED in every color of paint, the lightbox is nice and bright though.
