Unlike flash, you don't get instant feedback with pencil tests. Timing has to be worked out before you make the first drawings (usually) and you can never honestly know what the final result will be like before the pencil test is shot and over with.

...that being said, here's a couple walk cycles I've done in the past week

-notes: I need to raise/exaggerate the heel action of the behind foot (works for a "normal" walk cycle but reads sort of like it's on skis)

-notes: The legs pop a bit (I might have to add 2 more inbetweens for each passing position)

What program do I need to use to watch them?

I use quicktime. If you get quicktime pro (cough cough cough) you can loop them forever

yeh quicktime pro is nice, plus once you get it you can download .movs directly so thats a BIG BONUS!

Now, onto the more interesting parts of this thread.
Love traditional animation, I love it.

I remember a few years back when my brother was running me through the basics he took at college on his light table... once we screen captured it I felt like I had just brought something to life, even though it was just a pendulum swinging and settling, or a ball bouncing off a wall and off the screen, or a few simple profile walk cycles.

Ahh but I am sure most of us here could go on about how great of a medium it is.

These are pretty nice little pt's and you seem to already know what you need to fix, and "more in-betweens!" So I don't really see fit to offer you any criticism or advice.

keep up the good work Thor
Oh, wretched ephemeral race ... why do you compel me to tell you what it would be most expedient for you not to hear? What is best of all is utterly beyond your reach: not to be born, not to be, to be nothing. But the second best for you is—to die soon.

walk cycles need more bounce

the mouse thing was cool but the timing was too quick and the inbetweens didn't fit the style of the other linework

i would suggest reading the part about walk cycles in richard william's book

when i read that, i realized the reason why my walk cycles always look stiff and robotic. you need to exaggerate the bounce, add a lot of easing at the beginning and end of the cycle, and do some very specific things with the feet to make it look natural. its best to draw it out as keys first then do the in betweens
I have more of a life writing this review at 1145 pm than you guys do making these movies. . .

Thor

Actually that isn't too bad of an idea. I went into the book and found a pendulum swinging so I decided to do one too, only this one's a FURRY.

I should have done more with the tail

FrozenSheep

You need a little bit more exaggeration in the movement. They feel restrained.

up i fucking hate you
