power outage

if you live in the us and watch the news/read the paper, you probably heard about the windstorm that knocked out power to over a million people in the northwest. well i was one of them, my town snoqualmie didn't have power for exactly 5 days. it came on last night at 11pm which is the same time it went out last thursday.

the first day i spent in the house and i have never been so bored in my LIFE. it's amazing once you realize how much fun you can't have without electricity. and of course, all my plans for that day got ruined too. even our phone lines were down and i kept getting busy signals on  my cell. so the next couple of days all the important business districts like malls and stuff got power, so from the second i was awake to late in the night i was anywhere but home. i only went there to sleep, and man it got really cold. we had gas heating so fortunately it didn't freeze but some of my friends came home to literally below freezing homes. one person found their fish frozen solid in its tank.

i've never spent that much time driving around hanging out with people because i was avoiding  home because it was cold and i couldn't get any work done. yesterday around noon i actually brought my computer to a friends' house to get some flash work done. then the good news came later on that night. hopefully i can pump out a little christmas short i've been wanting to make before the actual day. we'll see.

right now i'm just glad there's lights and heating and stuff like that.

That happened to me last year, it was only a week but I know what you are saying.
We kept lossing power down here due to winds but it came back on within a few seconds, so it was more like powersurges. But as a result we forgot to turn the water heater back on and it keeps shutting off as a result... No warm showers for me

and also your computer would blip on and off, losing unsaved work. how frustrating.

ya mega weak, here in victoria we got 70-90km/h winds and it took out my power for two days, but that itself is amasing. i live in oak bay, you may not know this but it's the richest part of vancover island, for god sakes we even have our own snow plow. but on the island there were like 15,000 people without power. since the snow storm way back when some of them still go without. but oh my god!, as i write this, theres another more powerfull storm brewing outside, i hope the power dosen't give out.

it's amazing. for some reason, i only lost power for one day. but some people...6 days, or more...missed my last day of school before winter vacation, had three tests that day...i wouldn't mind seeing how bored i could get without electricity for more than a day.
yeah wow.

It was a pretty interesting weekend without power.  I noticed that our group of friends would migrate to the people with power.  Myself and Vecdran went to disturbance's after 2 days.  Tapistry joined during the days, but went home to his cold house at night.  Once my power came back on I booked it home and rtil came over.  I am just thankful that power was all we lost.  Lots of people had trees falling on their houses.  Poor disturbance on the other hand had 5 inches of water in his basement.  That was real fun to clean up after.

yah when i lived out in virgina it was funny my brother and his friend went wind surfing durring a hurrcane
SKATE BOARD,and a BED SHEET. it wat funny  my brothers friend broke his tooth...LOL
