NEW CARTOON: The Nail

And you guys get to see it first! a backalleys exclusive, at least for the next 24 hours or so.

two reasons being is 1, because you guys bothered to register here, and 2nd i want people (all of you) to test screen it.

after you'd watch it i'd like to hear a few things from you.

1. did you understand the cartoon?
2. what does the title mean?
3. would it help if there was a short subtitle description before the cartoon to get a basic understanding of what the cartoon is about?
4. would you change anything
and 5. simply put, did you like it and other thoughts that come to your mind.

if anyone is curious, i spent most of the past 3 days putting this together. a quickie, dunno even why i made it but it came to my mind, haha.

3. If you plan to show it to people who haven't heard of Foamy, you'd probably need to put some kind of explanation either before or after.
4. I'd proably make the reaper come to Foamy, although then you can't have that nice sailing scene. I dunno.
5. It was quite nice, though I still don't see what you've got against the little grey guy. Once again, you've managed to cross the dramatic with the mundane and make it funny. NOTE: do NOT offer the reaper a percentage discount when you want to buy his mercy. Lol!

4. When Foamy first meets the Reaper theres like a little white bar on the right side of the screen. Kinda ruins the moment a bit with all the darkness going on
5. I'm surpised you've managed to do something like this in three days. Then again I haven't tried making a toon in three days, I always lose my motivation. Some drawings look a bit rushed, but I suppose it would've been different if this had been an original toon instead of a parody-type thing. You did say it was a quickie after all. I think my favourite part is where Foamy offers the Reaper an alternate sulution. The drawing looks so damn nice and clean. Theres many parts that are lovely to look at.

I'm curious what Freetown will be like since you've spent months on that while this was just three days and still looks really good.

3. If you make a short subtitle then make it hilarious.  Probably shouldn't tho cuz its funnier when they walk into it not having any idea what the movie is gonna be about.
4. Clean up the graphics a bit, maybe optimize curves, then again its a quickie so i dunno u probably don't have to.

2. Zombie Pimp mentioned the nail in the coffin. I think it is something to do with that, only with it being the final nail in the coffin (for Foamy).
3. It might help others, I guess. I didn't really need one to understand what was going on.
4. Maybe the spinny parts when Foamy is falling down. The different speeds kinda killed the illusion of falling.
5. I liked it, the graphics, for a quick movie in flash, are beautiful at times, and the sillouhette animations (mainly the reaper's cape) are really impressive. I also loved the difference in landscape between Flash City and the island, and the reflections in the water.

yeah, once you heard it you thought also, and you are right.

4. well, some of the movement is jerky and looks unfinished. Like when foamy falls down the well, he bounces and it looks good but it doen't look like it's finished, like you didn't put in the inbetweens.
and
5. loved every moment of it. Some of it actually looked professional! like the over shot of him in the boat that zooms out. The coloring and everything looked very mysterious and some of the motion was really good.

This is going to get you an award if you submit it, just fix some of the movement if you have the itme.

i do have all day before i'm submitting it, so i guess i might as well. yeah, when he falls it's only 4 drawings with cleverly placed tweens haha. you're making me feel guilty for cutting corners, so i'll do that

an "i'm confused" button may be @ the end of the cartoon, as so not to ruin it in the beginning. but then again all of you seem to know what's going on. and i'm going to clean up a little bit of it, but yes it is a quickie.

okay, site down for a few minutes. back to business.

damnit, i lost my reply to qwazin. anyway, qwazin, freetown started last year in february actually. i did about 20 seconds of solid animation, then i let it rest and did stuff like Flash Comedy Extravaganza. then i came back to it in september, thought it sucked, deleted the .fla and started fresh.

now the animation is done, but what's happening now is that the intro of the cartoon has no music, so that means i can mess with the timing and animation. i actually removed the old intro i made last month and i'm working on a new one. it won't take long, it is short, but i don't miss the old one and no one else will  long story short it has backgrounds so detailed they're lagging and i'm going to have to remove detail to them lmao.

i've had just about enough of foamy, and i'm surprised people still put up with him. have you seen the recent ones? they're awful, and most people who have been loyal to him for years are beginning to doubt his ability to keep this interesting is all but gone. glad you enjoyed it regardless, though.

1.I understand it fully. I'm sure regular visitors of Newgrounds will get it seeing how long Foamy has been around so I think your audience is not going to be alienated or anything.

4. i think i'm going to pass on that, just because i've spent more time than i've wanted to this on already, so i'm going to pull some quick fixes and ditch the walk cycle for the sake of time and homework. i agree with you though, it would look better.

the funniest thing about the cartoon is that you can draw foamy better than illwill can lmao

hahaha. poor mr mathers. one of the many flash artists that never gets better over time. seriosuly, foamy has looked exactly the same since day 1.

I have cleaned up some drawings and added more animation on the falling part, as well as made him fall faster on that first part in the well.

the square shape i found to be funny even though that's not his form, so i just left it like that. i republished it and will be submitting in about 7 hours. i'll change the file on my website so you guys can see the touched up version.
