but the person who made it can be
so if their movie is pushing their own agenda
wouldn't it be pretentious?

or just an innocent bystander that is used to push the aforementioned pretentious agenda

we better stop talking about this it could go on for a long time
Oh, wretched ephemeral race ... why do you compel me to tell you what it would be most expedient for you not to hear? What is best of all is utterly beyond your reach: not to be born, not to be, to be nothing. But the second best for you is—to die soon.

No, no it can't. The only reason it feels like that is because you, as a viewer, decide it feels like that. Nothing is set in stone about a movie. A movie is just a movie. A bunch of shit you watch.

Everything you get out of it is you're own reaction to it as a result of who you are as a person. You influence your experience watching a movie more than the movie does.

I could sit here and say any movie is pretentious. An abstract movie will never go "WATCH HOW ABSTRACT I CAN BE LOL" I could say "Man that Metropolis Circuit movie is SO PRETENTIOUS geez fuckin tellin ME i have to wear rollerskates FUCK THAT!" and it would be exactly the same as what you're doing right now.

It's neither, as far as I can tell. It's just a movie. You watch it that's that. Whatever experience you have is on you, not the movie. If you think it's pretentious that's because there is something in the movie that gave you an impression of a certain attitude, but that's just your own reaction. The movie doesn't actually do that, you do that to yourself because of the way you perceive things.

Wade is not gay, read his profile! It's sad that you would use sexual orientation as a joke, shows that you have no real sense of humor.

But I'm the nitpicking world champion. I nitpicked my way to the world cup!

hey so yeah I really liked that part when the bodies melted and exploded into a skeleton, then it was a skeleton dancing. Maybe it was a nod to rubber hose animation of yesteryear or maybe it was unintentionally coincidental either way it was neat. I like dancing skeletons in anything, speaking of which Kokiriko Bushi... That was a good little clip as well.
